Promoting Cham ethnic culture in conjunction with sustainable tourism development.

According to information from the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, from June 26-28, the Cham culture will be showcased and spread during the 6th Cham Ethnic Culture Festival in Khanh Hoa province. This is an opportunity to honor unique heritage values, opening up a "golden" opportunity to connect tourism and create sustainable livelihoods for the Cham ethnic community nationwide.

Preserving cultural values ​​goes hand in hand with creating livelihoods for ethnic minority communities.

With the theme "Preserving and promoting the cultural identity of the Cham ethnic group in the new era," the 6th Cham Ethnic Culture Festival in Khanh Hoa province is scheduled to take place from June 26-28. The festival is not only an opportunity for the people to interact and strengthen national unity, but also a chance to promote tourism and boost socio -economic development in the localities.

According to Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Trinh Thi Thuy, the organization of the 6th Cham Ethnic Culture Festival needs to meet the requirements of both preserving and honoring Cham ethnic culture, and promoting and introducing it to contribute to tourism development.

"Preserving cultural values ​​must go hand in hand with creating sustainable livelihoods for ethnic minority communities across the country. Through activities at the 6th Cham Ethnic Culture Festival, it is necessary to introduce products and unique values ​​of each locality, linked to the sustainable development of tourism in areas where the Cham ethnic people live," Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Trinh Thi Thuy shared.

Accordingly, regarding communication efforts, localities need to fully and comprehensively disseminate information about the contributions of the Cham ethnic community throughout the country in socio-economic development, as well as in ensuring security and order, promoting national unity, poverty reduction, and sustainable development in their respective areas.

Through this, the values ​​from the 6th Cham Ethnic Culture Festival in Khanh Hoa will continue to spread widely within the Cham ethnic community, effectively contributing to the preservation and promotion of their heritage.

Suggesting intensified promotional activities before, during, and after the festival, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration Pham Van Thuy stated: "The 6th Cham Ethnic Culture Festival is an opportunity to promote and spread the image and traditional culture of the Cham ethnic people. This will boost socio-economic development in the area. Therefore, not only the host locality but all participating localities need to strengthen promotion, enhance cooperation, and exchange content to support each other."

Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, Pham Van Thuy, suggested that, on this occasion, the Organizing Committee should hold activities to honor artisans and Cham people who have made achievements and contributions to economic development as well as the preservation and promotion of traditional culture in the localities.

Regarding the workshop "Preserving and promoting the value of Cham cultural heritage associated with sustainable tourism development," the Vietnam National Tourism Administration is ready to cooperate and invite travel businesses to participate in order to provide practical recommendations and contribute to promoting and expanding the tourism economy in the Cham community.

Cham culture permeated throughout the festival.

According to Nguyen Long Bien, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province, the 6th Cham Ethnic Culture Festival is an event that provides the Cham ethnic people with more opportunities to interact, learn, and participate in many important activities.

In that spirit, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province, Nguyen Long Bien, said that Khanh Hoa province is promoting the implementation of the plan as directed by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, focusing on reviewing the content, rituals of the festival, opening and closing ceremonies, etc., to ensure the participation of the Cham people from various localities.

In addition, the local authorities will review the preparations for logistics, accommodation, and price stabilization of services, coordinating with relevant units to ensure the festival is successful, high-quality, and safe.

The festival will feature the participation of Cham people, artisans, actors, and amateur athletes currently living, studying, and working in Khanh Hoa, as well as in Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Lam Dong, An Giang, Tay Ninh, and Ho Chi Minh City.

The festival will feature cultural and artistic activities and exhibitions, including: a general opening ceremony for cultural, sports, and tourism activities; performances and presentations of excerpts from traditional Cham festivals and cultural rituals; exhibitions and promotions of local Cham traditional culture; and demonstrations and presentations of traditional Cham crafts.

In addition, the public will be able to enjoy a folk art festival; a Cham ethnic costume performance; a competition showcasing community tourism guiding skills; and sports competitions and folk games such as: football, men's volleyball, tug-of-war, stick pushing, water carrying, etc.

The festival will also feature many meaningful activities inviting visitors to explore. Highlights include a multimedia art installation space titled "Cham Culture - Convergence and Dissemination"; a thematic exhibition on "Characteristics of Cham Ethnic Culture within the Cultural Community of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups"; and a workshop on "Preserving and Promoting the Value of Cham Cultural Heritage in conjunction with Sustainable Tourism Development".

According to the plan, the Opening Ceremony and Closing Ceremony of the Festival are scheduled to take place at 8 PM on June 26th and June 28th, respectively, at the 16/4 Monument Square in Khanh Hoa province. The program will be broadcast live on VTV8 of Vietnam Television, and rebroadcast on newspapers and radio and television in the participating localities.
