Following the reorganization and restructuring of the system, the health sector in Lao Cai has operated stably and synchronously from the provincial level to the grassroots. With investment in infrastructure, human resources, and technical expertise, the quality of medical examination and treatment in the area has been increasingly improved, and the capacity for local treatment has been strengthened, helping people access convenient and effective medical services right in their locality.

The province currently has 8 provincial-level hospitals with a total of 3,439 beds; 9 regional general hospitals (formerly district-level hospitals) and 8 regional health centers providing medical examination and treatment with a total of 2,852 beds. In addition, the health system also has 31 regional polyclinics, providing an additional 460 beds. At the grassroots level, the province maintains 216 commune health stations, of which 48 stations were reorganized from the former Lao Cai area (under the People's Committee of communes and wards) and 168 stations from the former Yen Bai area remain under the Department of Health.

Alongside the public healthcare system, the private healthcare network has also developed strongly, with 466 medical facilities, including: 5 private hospitals with 453 beds, 21 polyclinics, 375 specialist clinics, and 65 other medical service facilities. This contributes to reducing the burden on the state healthcare system and expanding people's access to healthcare services.

Regarding human resources, as of June 2025, the province has 9,190 healthcare professionals, including 2,214 doctors and 462 university-trained pharmacists. This is a crucial resource, creating a foundation for the stable development and gradual modernization of the healthcare sector in Lao Cai.

Thanks to synchronized investment and improved professional capacity, the quality of medical examination and treatment in the area has significantly improved. The rate of technical services performed according to the Ministry of Health's classification system has continuously increased, showing that the local treatment capacity of medical facilities in the province is increasingly strengthened, contributing to ensuring the right to healthcare for people right in their localities: Provincial level reached 81% (up from 74.3% in 2020), regional hospital/health center level reached 49.2% (up 20% compared to 2020), and commune level reached 53% (up 7% compared to the same period).
