Lao Cai is a border area, with many potential risks of smuggling confectionery products from abroad, especially moon cakes. Therefore, to do a good job of screening and prevention, the Provincial Police Economic Police Department has coordinated with the market management force to conduct surprise inspections of production and business establishments. The focus of inspections is supermarkets, retail stores, especially stalls selling moon cakes in the area.

The inspection aims to promptly detect and handle violations of food safety such as: products of unknown origin; expired moon cakes and candies; and goods that do not ensure food hygiene and safety.
Through surprise inspections at retail outlets, stores, and supermarkets selling moon cakes in the area, the authorities did not detect any confectionery of unknown origin. All types of moon cakes on sale have full purchase documents, clearly listed prices and expiration dates.

In the coming time, the Economic Police Department of Lao Cai Provincial Police will continue to coordinate with the Provincial Market Management Department to tighten food safety inspection during the Mid-Autumn Festival, in order to prevent the circulation of fake and poor quality goods on the market, contributing to protecting the health of consumers.
