The South Korean Football Association has called for the dismissal of coach Klinsmann.

On the afternoon of February 15th, the professional council (known as the National Team Strengthening Committee) of the Korea Football Association (KFA) held a meeting to evaluate and analyze the team's performance at the 2023 Asian Cup. The committee recommended dismissing coach Jurgen Klinsmann, pending the final decision of KFA President Chung Mong-gyu.

Hwang Bo-kwan, KFA Technical Director, said: " The committee determined that coach Klinsmann is no longer capable of leading the national team for various reasons. We unanimously agreed that a replacement is needed."

Regarding the failure at the 2023 Asian Cup, Mr. Hwang stated: " Despite facing Jordan again, the team lacked tactical preparation and proper observation and player utilization. Coach Klinsmann attributed the discord between Lee Kang-in and Son Heung-min to the team's performance without acknowledging the lack of tactical preparation ."

Furthermore, reports from the expert panel also indicated that Coach Klinsmann lacked leadership skills. The German strategist did not properly understand internal conflicts and seemed to ignore feedback regarding his work ethic, spending little time in South Korea. He was primarily in the US and working remotely. This led the South Korean public to question the effectiveness of Klinsmann's work.

" The Korean Football Association will consider dismissing coach Klinsmann as soon as possible and then proceed with further procedures, such as appointing an interim coach ," Hwang added.

KFA President Chung Mong-gyu was criticized for unilaterally appointing coach Jurgen Klinsmann without following the proper selection process. If the German coach is dismissed, the KFA could face compensation payments totaling up to $4.5 million USD. This figure is equivalent to 3.7% of the Korean Football Association's 2024 budget. His contract runs until the end of the 2026 World Cup.

Prior to today's (February 15th) meeting of the expert panel, several groups of South Korean fans gathered in front of the KFA headquarters to call for the dismissal of coach Klinsmann.
