From its early performances, the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival has developed into a world-class international cultural and tourism event. The festival affirms its position as a leading tourism brand, becoming a professional event with an increasingly larger scale each season.

An iconic event

Compared to the original Da Nang International Fireworks Competition in 2008, which later became the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) in 2017, DIFF has now been elevated to an annual festival lasting nearly two months with six competition nights, attracting 10 top fireworks teams from around the world , including world fireworks legends such as Martarello SRL (Italy), JoHo Pyro (Finland), and teams from China, France, Japan, and others.

Performance technology is constantly improving. DIFF 2026 made its mark with a giant dome stage (over 40m) integrating lifting and lowering technology, LED matrix, and multi-layered lasers, transforming each performance into a living entity. Teams applied water fireworks and high-altitude fireworks combined with background music, creating "symphony of light." The main grandstand and stage were invested in on a large scale, offering wide views and a large capacity, creating an impressive visual experience.

With the theme "United Horizons," the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2026 (taking place from May 30th to July 11th) promises to deliver spectacular fireworks displays and tell the story of a new Da Nang expanding its development space, vision, and stronger connections with the region and the world.

The competition's theme has also been consistent and narrative-driven each year. Each year features a new theme, reflecting international exchange and integration: "A World Without Boundaries" (2023), "The Pulse of the Future" (2024), "Da Nang - A New Era" (2025), "Da Nang - Connecting Horizons" (2026)... The DIFF's artistic program format is constantly being innovated and invested in to be more youthful, vibrant, and on-trend.

The organizers have partnered with leading event organizers in Vietnam to bring large-scale, audience-favorite music concerts combined with spectacular fireworks displays. In particular, the application of modern technology provides audiences with a visual and auditory feast, extending the fireworks viewing experience throughout the summer. Furthermore, audiences can enjoy interactive virtual reality experiences with the DIFF kit, creating a unique and unprecedented trend of collecting DIFF-themed items.

Leveraging tourism development

Notably, the festival has undergone socialization and professionalization with the support of large corporations, enhancing its position on the world festival map. To date, the festival has integrated cultural and tourism elements. DIFF not only features fireworks but also includes a series of cultural and tourism events such as: street carnival, beer festival, food festival, hot air ballooning, etc.

In 2026, DIFF is expected to continue to be the biggest boost for Da Nang's tourism industry during the summer, creating more vibrant and professional summer nights on the Han River. According to the organizers, tickets for the opening night of DIFF are in high demand, with the online ticketing portal (diff.vn) continuously receiving bookings from travel agencies as well as domestic and international tourists. Data from online travel platforms shows that Da Nang leads in hotel booking searches for both international and domestic tourists during the fireworks festival.

Many hotels in Da Nang also recorded a higher proportion of international guests compared to the same period last year and achieved very high occupancy rates during fireworks displays. Ms. Nicole Weitsz, General Manager of Radisson RED Danang Hotel, likened DIFF to an explosive event, bringing "golden opportunities" for the hotel industry in Da Nang. Hotel occupancy rates during DIFF always see a significant surge, especially on weekends when the main performances take place.

To ensure that DIFF is not just a fleeting summer light show, but also opens up long-term, broad development opportunities for all service industries, the organizers always have a strategic investment plan with large-scale, modern grandstands, along with a "fireworks ecosystem" encompassing resorts, restaurants, shopping, and entertainment.

Ms. Nadia Shakira Wong, Director of Global 2000, a fireworks consulting company and producer of the DIFF event for many years, emphasized: “Building a comprehensive infrastructure for the fireworks festival is crucial. If there are more places for tourists to shop and enjoy entertainment, visitors will spend more time in Da Nang.”

According to businesses, Da Nang is currently in its peak tourist season, coinciding with the summer holidays and favorable weather, resulting in a large influx of domestic and international tourists. The combination of the fireworks festival and the summer tourist season creates a strong attraction, driving up demand for accommodation. The Da Nang International Fireworks Festival not only enriches Da Nang's cultural and entertainment life but also plays a crucial role in attracting international tourists back to Vietnam, contributing to building the image of a dynamic, modern, and friendly city.

On the opening night of DIFF 2026, held on May 30th, in addition to the competition between Vietnam's first representative - the Da Nang International Fireworks Team (Vietnam 1) and the reigning DIFF 2025 champion China (Jiangxi Yangfeng Art Display Co., Ltd), the audience will have the opportunity to enjoy a spectacular artistic feast featuring renowned artists such as "Entertainment Queen" Ho Ngoc Ha, "Powerful Vocalist" Hoang Hai, singer Ha Nhi, singer Nguyen Tran Trung Quan, along with approximately 70 professional dancers and more than 30 international artists from Sun World Ba Na Hills.
