Vietnam Fruit Festival

Speaking at the first Vietnam Fruit Festival currently taking place in Beijing, China, Li Yan, Deputy Director of the Asia Department (Ministry of Commerce of China), expressed his hope that through this event, Vietnamese businesses will take advantage of the opportunity to promote their products and actively explore the Chinese market.

According to Mr. Li Yan, Vietnam and China are two countries with shared mountains and rivers, good comrades, good partners, good neighbors, and good friends. Under the strategic guidance of the high-level leaders of the two Parties and two States, the Vietnam-China cooperative relationship has achieved many positive results in many fields.

Li Yan, Deputy Director of the Asia Department (Ministry of Commerce of China), expects that through the Vietnam Fruit Festival, Vietnamese businesses will take advantage of the opportunity to promote their products and actively explore the Chinese market.

Economic and trade cooperation is the main driving force behind Vietnam-China relations. Since 2004, China has consistently been Vietnam's largest trading partner, and since 2016, Vietnam has been China's largest trading partner in the ASEAN region. In the first eight months of 2024, bilateral trade between China and Vietnam reached nearly US$170 billion, an increase of almost 20% compared to the same period last year.

China is Vietnam's largest export market for fruits and vegetables. In 2023, Vietnam's agricultural exports to China accounted for 21% of Vietnam's total agricultural exports to the world . Thanks to the joint efforts of both sides, high-quality Vietnamese fruits such as durian, dragon fruit, bananas, and mangoes have entered the Chinese market, while Vietnamese food products such as coffee and pho are also very popular among Chinese consumers.

With the comprehensive implementation of the RCEP agreement and the continuous upgrading of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement, cooperation between the two countries in technology, standards, and agricultural production has increasingly developed in a more in-depth direction.

“ This is the first time Vietnam has organized a fruit promotion event in Beijing. I hope Vietnamese businesses will make good use of this opportunity and actively explore the Chinese market. I also hope that the people of Beijing will seize this rare opportunity to enjoy delicious Vietnamese fruits and introduce their unique flavors to their friends and relatives, ” Mr. Ly Ngan shared.

The first Vietnam Fruit Festival in Beijing took place from September 29-30, 2024, with the participation of numerous large agricultural businesses in Vietnam and specialized agricultural associations, importers, and suppliers from China.

The event was jointly organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in cooperation with the Vietnamese Embassy in China, the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association, and Chinese partners.

With the theme "Vietnamese Fruits - Delicious in All Seasons," the festival is one of the important trade promotion events for fresh fruits and vegetables and processed products made from fruits and vegetables that have been officially allowed to be imported into the Chinese market.

This is the first time a large-scale fruit festival has been held abroad, with the participation of numerous major Vietnamese agricultural processing and export businesses, as well as agricultural industry associations, importers, and suppliers from China.

The festival is expected to be one of the important trade promotion events aimed at boosting the export of fresh root vegetables and fruits, as well as processed products derived from them, that have been officially permitted for export to the Chinese market.
