Superman: Legacy trailer released
The trailer opens with Superman in his familiar armor, falling onto a frozen wasteland. According to Hollywood Reporter, his face is covered in blood and bruises, and he's breathing heavily, as if his lungs are damaged or his ribs are broken.

In the distance, the dog Krypto appears as Superman whistles loudly. He whispers to his companion, "Take me home." Notably, this is Superman's only line in the trailer.
Familiar characters make a comeback.
Nicholas Hoult impressed audiences with his portrayal of Lex Luthor, Superman's arch-nemesis and leader of Luthor Corp. The character first appeared in DC comics in 1940, created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. Lex Luthor is depicted as an American billionaire and a genius possessing exceptional intelligence.

Additionally, Lois Lane (played by Rachel Brosnahan) – a renowned reporter for the Daily Planet and Superman's love interest – also appears in the trailer, hinting at many interesting developments in the relationship between the two characters.

Additionally, the trailer also features brief appearances of other DC Comics superheroes such as Mister Terrific, Green Lantern Guy Gardner, Hawkgirl, and others.

The new era of the DCU
According to Variety, Superman: Legacy marks the first chapter in the new DCU cinematic universe, titled Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.

Directed by James Gunn and produced by Peter Safran, the film, inspired by the All-Star Superman comic books, takes audiences into a world where humanity is acutely aware of the existence of superheroes.
However, this world is plunged into chaos with civil war, alien invasion, and Lex Luthor's sinister plot. These events push humanity to the brink of extinction, causing people to lose faith and even attack Superman for his inability to protect them from tragedy.
Reactions from the audience and critics
Under the trailer, many viewers expressed their excitement. Nickname @eliothillis535 shared: "I've never been excited about Superman movies before, but this one feels like it's taking me back to my childhood. The trailer truly touched my heart." Another account, @YaBoyMirage, commented that director James Gunn wanted to convey the message "Kindness in a world that has lost kindness."
Despite receiving much praise for its visuals and message, many opinions remain cautious, suggesting that the most appealing aspects are often only revealed in trailers. They expect to have to wait for the film to be released in theaters for a more accurate assessment.
Team and cast
James Gunn not only directed but also wrote the screenplay for Superman: Legacy. According to Gunn, the film will delve deeply into Superman's life under the identity of Clark Kent, when he worked as a reporter at The Daily Planet.

The film also marked a major change in the DCU's cast. David Corenswet, 1.93m tall, was chosen to play Superman, replacing Henry Cavill, who had been associated with the character for many years. The decision to cast a younger actor was made in late 2022 and received mixed reactions.
While DC fans supported Corenswet for his resemblance to the comic book version from the 1930s, Henry Cavill fans mourned his passing.
The greatest superhero of all time
Superman first appeared in Action Comics #1 on April 18, 1938, telling the character's origin story – an alien boy who comes to Earth and his love story with Lois Lane. Superman quickly became an American cultural icon, associated with numerous films, comic books, and a wide range of merchandise.
According to Numbers, the total revenue from Superman films has exceeded $2.5 billion, with the highest being Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) at $874 million.
With Superman: Legacy, James Gunn promises to deliver a fresh, unique story that combines creativity with fidelity to the character's legacy.
