(HNMO) - On May 14, at Hanoi Book Street, the novel-chronicle series “Nomads” written about the Kazakh steppe was introduced to readers by the Vietnamese Women’s Publishing House and the Embassy of Kazakhstan. This is a massive epic novel series, rich in historical documents and literary quality.
In Kazakh literature, there has been no work that summarizes the history of the Kazakh people and the formation of the Kazakh nation. The birth of the novel series “Nomads” (consisting of 3 volumes) has thus contributed to overcoming the gaps in Kazakh literature on the subject of history. The author Ilyas Yesenberlin spent 24 years, from 1945 to 1969, researching documents and took about 6 years (1969-1973) to complete this monumental work.
Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Vietnam Yerlan Baizhanov said: “Author Ilyas Yesenberlin was one of the first people to deeply research the history of the Kazakh people. He painstakingly researched and collected historical details to piece together the complete piece as we see today. The work “Nomads” gives readers around the world more knowledge, more understanding of the culture of nomadic peoples and a more comprehensive view of the development process of Central Asia in general, and the history of Kazakhstan in particular.”
Ilyas Yesenberlin's works are widely known not only in Kazakhstan but all over the world. Since its "birth" until now, the novel "Nomads" has been published 50 times, translated into more than 30 languages and awarded the State Prize of Kazakhstan. .
Director - Editor-in-Chief of Vietnam Women's Publishing House Khuc Thi Hoa Phuong commented: "Nomads" is probably the largest book series on cultural history in literary form to understand Kazakhstan and Central Asia in general. When the book introduction program was prepared, many readers responded that they really enjoyed reading works on steppe culture and nomadic culture. Hopefully, in the near future, Vietnamese readers will have more access to Ilyas Yesenberlin's works that have not been translated in Vietnam, as well as works of Central Asian countries in general.
The four translators who joined hands to translate are Nguyen Van Chien, Le Duc Man, Nguyen Ngoc Hung, and Tran Bich Thu. The group of translators shared: “The heroic pages of history soaked in the blood and bones of the warriors who fought for national independence and built an independent, powerful nation in the vast Kazakh steppe also remind us of the struggle of the Vietnamese people for centuries against invaders and to win. The novel “Nomads” by writer Ilyas Yesenberlin helps Vietnamese readers better understand the fighting process of the Kazakh people on the great steppe for an extremely noble goal of building and protecting their country of Kazakhstan.”
