On April 24th, at Binh Xa Ethnic Boarding Primary School I (Kien Moc commune), the Youth and Children's Palace, in coordination with the Commune Youth Union, the Children's Council, and the Commune's Department of Culture and Social Affairs, organized a weekend playground event titled "I Love Vietnamese History" with the theme "The Shining Pages of Our Young Pioneers' History". In a lively and enthusiastic atmosphere, the children watched videos learning about the history of the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers' Organization and participated in many engaging activities such as: performing themed artistic performances; answering history knowledge questions; a quiz competition to identify historical figures and events; assembling puzzles; and telling stories about Uncle Ho and the traditions of the Young Pioneers' Organization...
Ms. Hoang Thi Lieu, Deputy Director of the Lang Son Youth and Children's Palace, said: "Through the weekend playground 'I Love Vietnamese History,' we hope to help children better understand the glorious traditions of the nation and of their homeland, Lang Son, thereby raising their sense of responsibility in learning and training."
From 2019 to the present, the Youth Palace has organized 24 weekend playground programs titled "I Love Vietnamese History." The appeal of these programs lies in their age-appropriate content, combining traditional education and awareness with interactive games with prizes, and themed performances by young members, allowing children to "learn through play and play through learning." Each quarter, the program is structured around a specific theme linked to important historical milestones and events. Specifically, the theme for the first quarter of 2026, "Proudly Marching Under the Party Flag," helps children learn about the glorious history of the Party and the Youth Union; the theme for the third quarter of 2026, "Proud of the Traditions of Lang Son Province," contributes to a deeper understanding of their homeland. The program is held on a rotating basis in various competitive clusters, creating opportunities for a large number of children to participate and experience it.
To make the playground more vibrant, the staff proactively collected and compiled videos and short films promoting history on various themes; at the same time, they developed a system of questions, games, and experiential activities suitable for the age group. Furthermore, the Youth Palace closely coordinated with the youth councils of communes, wards, and schools in developing content and organizing activities appropriate to each locality. Thanks to this flexible and engaging approach, historical knowledge is no longer dry and difficult to remember, but becomes captivating stories that spark children's interest in learning.
Besides helping children learn about history, this playground also contributes to developing their thinking skills, communication skills, and teamwork spirit. Through question-and-answer sessions and interactive games, many previously shy and insecure children have become more confident in expressing their understanding. For schools, this is also a beneficial extracurricular activity, contributing to the innovation of education and making history learning more accessible and engaging.
Bé Ngọc An, a student in class 4A at Bính Xá Ethnic Boarding Primary School I in Kiên Mộc commune, shared: "When participating in the weekend activity 'I Love Vietnamese History,' we got to watch cultural performances, short films about the history of the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers Organization, the Liberation Day of the South, the reunification of the country, and learn about President Ho Chi Minh's life and historical events... The program not only helped us gain more knowledge but also created a lively atmosphere for us to interact and learn."
In addition, the Youth Center also cares for and supports students from disadvantaged backgrounds at schools. In each program, the center donates 5 to 10 gifts, including cash, books, and clothing, to students who overcome difficulties and excel in their studies.
With its flexible organization and engaging, lively content, the weekend playground "I Love Vietnamese History" has been adopted and implemented by several provinces and cities, and has been replicated and integrated into extracurricular activities by many schools throughout the province. This helps children deepen their historical knowledge, cultivate love for their homeland and country, and foster national pride.
