A journey of innovation and action-oriented thinking.

Looking back over the past half-decade, the collective economic sector in Hanoi has faced numerous difficulties and challenges. These include the severe impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, supply chain disruptions, global market fluctuations, and the increasingly complex effects of natural disasters and epidemics. In this context, the Hanoi City Cooperative Union has played a leading role, acting as both a policy bridge and a pillar of support for cooperatives to overcome difficulties, recover, and develop.

Recognizing that "innovative thinking is the key to success," the Hanoi City Cooperative Union has focused on promoting advisory work, propaganda, and support for the development of new-style cooperatives in accordance with Resolution No. 20-NQ/TW dated June 16, 2022, of the 13th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam on continuing to innovate, develop, and improve the effectiveness of the collective economy in the new period. The Hanoi City Cooperative Union has proactively coordinated with relevant departments and agencies to advise the City Party Committee, the City People's Council, and the City People's Committee on the issuance of many important mechanisms and policies.

According to Nguyen Tien Phong, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi City Cooperative Union, the Union consistently promotes the message of a humane economic model that emphasizes cooperation, mutual support, and community development. Thousands of news articles and reports have contributed to raising awareness among people and cooperative members about the role and position of the collective economy in the socialist-oriented market economy. As a result, more and more farmers, small traders, and artisans in traditional craft villages understand that sustainable development and enhanced competitiveness require cooperation and collaboration under the common roof of a cooperative.

In carrying out its tasks, the City Cooperative Union has always been closely involved with the grassroots, proactively engaging in dialogue, conducting surveys, and resolving difficulties for cooperatives regarding capital and trade promotion. Its working trips to districts such as Dong Anh, Gia Lam, Ba Vi, and Soc Son have demonstrated the Union's spirit of companionship, sharing, and responsibility towards the development of each member cooperative.

Thanks to comprehensive and decisive solutions, the collective economic sector in Hanoi has achieved many outstanding results. By the end of 2025, Hanoi had 2,912 cooperatives and people's credit funds; including 702 newly established cooperatives and 9 cooperative unions, exceeding the set plan by 140%. The collective economic sector currently attracts more than 617,000 members, creating stable jobs for tens of thousands of workers, and making a positive contribution to social welfare and sustainable poverty reduction in the city.

In the agricultural sector, cooperatives have gradually mastered technology, applied mechanization, digital transformation, and safe production processes according to VietGAP and organic standards. Many cooperatives have successfully built a supply chain from production to consumption, bringing Hanoi's agricultural products into major supermarket systems and gradually participating in the export market.

In traditional craft villages, industrial and handicraft cooperatives have contributed to preserving and promoting the cultural values of Thang Long - Hanoi. The combination of traditional craft essence with modern management thinking has created many OCOP products with high economic value, contributing to increasing people's income and preserving national cultural identity.

The People's Credit Fund system, comprising 93 units, continues to operate safely and effectively, playing a vital role in the circulation of capital in rural areas. Through the support and supervision of the City's Cooperative Union, the credit fund system has become a reliable channel for capital supply, contributing to curbing illegal lending and promoting local economic development.

One of the outstanding achievements of the City's Cooperative Union is its role in providing capital support and trade promotion for cooperatives. The City's Cooperative Development Support Fund has disbursed over 478.2 billion VND to more than 1,300 production and business projects, creating conditions for cooperatives to invest in factories, innovate technology, expand production scale, and create more jobs for members.

Alongside capital support, trade promotion and digital transformation efforts have been crucial. The city's Cooperative Alliance has organized numerous trade fairs, trade weeks, and forums connecting supply and demand; supporting thousands of cooperatives in promoting their products and connecting hundreds of OCOP (One Commune One Product) products for sale. In particular, bringing products to e-commerce platforms has opened up new avenues for development, helping cooperatives directly reach consumers both domestically and internationally.

Breakthrough achievements and aspirations for greater heights.

Besides contributing to economic growth, the collective economic sector also plays a crucial role in building socialism and developing the new socialist person. Cooperatives are an economic model that clearly demonstrates the spirit of solidarity, democracy, equality, working together, sharing benefits, and developing together. In cooperatives, economic benefits are always linked to social responsibility, with the goal of improving the material and spiritual lives of members, workers, and the community.

Through the activities of cooperatives, many core values of socialism are realized at the grassroots level, such as: promoting mutual assistance, reducing the gap between rich and poor, creating stable jobs, ensuring social security, building a civilized and modern new rural area, and preserving national cultural identity. Cooperatives are not only economic organizations but also environments for building united and compassionate communities, contributing to strengthening people's trust in the policies and guidelines of the Party and the State.

The Hanoi City Cooperative Union has also actively coordinated with departments and agencies to guide and strengthen 281 cooperatives participating in the construction of new rural areas, advanced new rural areas, and model new rural areas. Through this, the collective economic sector is increasingly affirming its important role in building a "Cultural - Civilized - Modern" capital city.

During the 2020-2025 term, the Hanoi City Cooperative Union had one collective awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Prime Minister; nine cooperative collectives awarded the Emulation Flag by the Vietnam Cooperative Union; 112 collectives and 99 individuals awarded Certificates of Merit by the Vietnam Cooperative Union; 20 collectives and 17 individuals awarded Certificates of Merit by the Hanoi City People's Committee; four individuals recognized with the title "Good People, Good Deeds" by the Hanoi City People's Committee; and 257 individuals awarded the "For the Cause of Cooperative Development" commemorative medal by the Vietnam Cooperative Union.

This is well-deserved recognition for the persistent efforts of the cooperative's staff and members in building and developing the collective economic sector of the capital city.

In the process of building "socialist communes and wards and socialist people," cooperatives play a crucial role in educating each member about responsibility, community spirit, and cooperative culture. Through production, business, and collective activities, cooperatives help people gradually shift from small-scale production to linkage and cooperation, enhancing discipline, sharing spirit, and responsibility towards the community. This is a vital foundation for building a harmonious, humane, and sustainable developed society.

Entering the 2025-2030 period, with the motto "Unity - Innovation - Cooperation - Sustainable Development";

The Hanoi City Cooperative Alliance continues to aim towards building a modern collective economic ecosystem, developing on the foundation of the digital economy, green economy, and innovation. Each cooperative will truly become a healthy "economic cell," making a significant contribution to the rapid and sustainable development of the Capital city and realizing the goal of building socialism in the new era.
