On the night of May 17th, European media outlets unanimously confirmed that Liverpool had reached an agreement to sign Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano used the familiar phrase "Here we go" to confirm the deal was complete. Frimpong arrived at Anfield with a release clause of €35 million. The Dutch player signed a five-year contract with the Merseyside club.

"The medical examination is currently scheduled, before Liverpool officially announce the new signing. This is an important reinforcement for the Reds' right flank, as Frimpong is considered one of the most complete attacking and defensive full-backs in Europe at the moment," Romano added.

Coach Arne Slot is also familiar with the abilities and playing style of his compatriot. As for Frimpong, the defender also wants to leave Bayer Leverkusen, after coach Xabi Alonso will no longer be working at BayArena next season.

Frimpong's career has progressed since joining Leverkusen in January 2021. His attacking and defensive capabilities and explosive performances have made him a key player at Leverkusen, attracting attention from bigger clubs.

Liverpool are planning to strengthen their defense as Trent Alexander-Arnold prepares to leave Anfield. The English defender is set to move to Real Madrid on a free transfer this summer.

However, the Santiago Bernabeu club wants to pay a transfer fee to Liverpool to sign Alexander-Arnold early, so that he can be available for the opening group stage match against Al-Hilal on June 18th.
