Nunez could leave Liverpool. |
The Guardian reports that the first two players set to leave Liverpool this summer are Harvey Elliott and Caoimhin Kelleher. Elliott expressed his frustration after the 2-3 defeat to Brighton on May 20th, as he was not getting regular playing time at Anfield.
"I have to do what's best for my career," Elliott said vaguely about the possibility of finding a new club. At 22, the midfielder has only made two Premier League appearances and played a total of 821 minutes across all competitions.
Meanwhile, Kelleher could also leave to salvage his career. Ireland national team coach Heimir Hallgrimsson has encouraged Kelleher to find a new club. To replace Kelleher, Liverpool have reached an agreement to sign goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili for £29 million from Valencia.
Left-back duo Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas could also be offloaded. Liverpool are targeting Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth for around £45 million. Leeds United are interested in Tsimikas, while Robertson is attracting attention from several other Premier League clubs.
Another defensive player, Ibrahima Konate, also has an uncertain future as he enters the final year of his contract at Anfield. Liverpool have not yet made any move to extend the French star's contract.
In attack, Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz have attracted the attention of European clubs. Barcelona's sporting director Deco once admitted his admiration for Diaz, viewing the Colombian striker as an ideal rotation option for Lamine Yamal and Raphinha.
Meanwhile, Express reports that Napoli, Atletico Madrid, Al Nassr, and River Plate could sign Nunez this summer. The Uruguayan striker has been controversial due to his minimal contribution to Liverpool's Premier League title-winning campaign this season. In his two years at Anfield, Nunez only scored 25 Premier League goals.
