In Kim Tan commune, in the days following Typhoon No. 5, the water level of the Buoi River rose, submerging thousands of households. Many inter-village and inter-commune roads, especially provincial roads 523 and 516, were cut off by water, causing significant difficulties for transportation and rescue efforts. With a sense of urgency, the provincial armed forces, in coordination with local Party committees and authorities, evacuated over 1,600 households in 16 villages, comprising more than 5,000 people. Simultaneously, task forces were assigned to closely monitor each village, particularly along the cut-off roads, to provide timely assistance with food, clean water, and essential supplies to the affected residents.

Meanwhile, on National Highway 47, the section passing through Yen Nhan commune has experienced serious landslides, causing traffic congestion and isolating many villages and hundreds of households in Yen Nhan and Bat Mot communes.

More dangerously, at some bends in the road and on steep slopes, flash floods and landslides, accompanied by rising river levels, have swept away two-thirds of the road's width, creating extremely dangerous ravines. Officers and soldiers of the Thanh Hoa armed forces promptly reached the affected areas, transporting essential supplies to the people with the spirit of ensuring no one goes hungry or thirsty. At the same time, they continued to relocate households at high risk of landslides to safe locations.

Following the floods, many roads leading to Son Dien commune were paralyzed, many villages were completely cut off and isolated, and almost all of the rice paddies and fish ponds belonging to local households were wiped out.

In response to the situation, the Command of Defense Zone 4 - Hoi Xuan mobilized more than 1,000 officers, soldiers, and militia members to evacuate people to safe areas. At the same time, they assisted the people in reinforcing their houses and repairing flooded crops; distributed 2.5 tons of dried food, essential supplies, clothing, blankets, and mattresses to the people; and coordinated with the police force to guide and reroute traffic in flooded and landslide-affected areas to ensure the safety of people and vehicles.

To proactively and effectively respond to the complex developments of Typhoon No. 5, the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Military Command had previously directed agencies and units to implement proactive measures to minimize damage to people and state and people's property. Currently, post-typhoon recovery efforts are still being urgently carried out by the provincial armed forces in heavily affected areas.

In the context of increasingly extreme and unpredictable natural disasters, the timely and decisive intervention of the armed forces of Thanh Hoa province continues to affirm their core and leading role in disaster prevention and control, for the peaceful lives of the people.
