(Baothanhhoa.vn) - Due to the impact of storm No. 5 causing prolonged heavy rain, in recent days many localities in Thanh Hoa province have faced serious landslides and flooding, causing many areas to be cut off and isolated. The provincial Military Command has promptly mobilized thousands of officers and soldiers to support people in overcoming the consequences of the storm and soon stabilizing their lives.

In Kim Tan commune, in the days after storm No. 5, the water level of the Buoi River rose, causing thousands of households to be submerged in water. Many inter-village and inter-commune roads, especially provincial roads 523 and 516, were cut off by water, causing great difficulties for travel and rescue work. With a sense of urgency, the provincial armed forces coordinated with local authorities and Party committees to evacuate more than 1,600 households in 16 villages with more than 5,000 people. At the same time, working groups were assigned to closely follow each village, especially on the cut-off roads, to promptly support food, clean water and necessary necessities to the people.

Meanwhile, on National Highway 47, the section passing through Yen Nhan commune has seen many serious landslides, causing traffic jams and isolating many villages and hundreds of households in Yen Nhan and Bat Mot communes.

More dangerously, at some curved and downhill locations, flash floods and flash floods, along with rising river water, swept away 2/3 of the road surface, creating extremely dangerous deep ravines. Officers and soldiers of the Thanh Hoa Military Command promptly approached and transported necessities to the people with the spirit of not letting anyone go hungry or thirsty. At the same time, they continued to evacuate households at high risk of landslides to safe places.

After the flood, many roads into Son Dien commune were paralyzed, many villages were completely cut off and isolated, and the entire rice fields and aquaculture ponds of households were almost wiped out.

Faced with the above situation, the Defense Command of Region 4 - Hoi Xuan mobilized more than 1,000 officers, soldiers, and militia to evacuate people to safety. At the same time, it supported people to reinforce their houses and overcome flooded crops; distributed 2.5 tons of dry food, necessities, clothes, blankets, and mattresses to people; coordinated with the police force to organize traffic guidance and diversion in flooded and landslide areas to ensure safety for people and vehicles.

To proactively and effectively respond to the complicated developments of storm No. 5, the Party Committee and the Provincial Military Command have promptly directed agencies and units to deploy active measures to minimize damage to people and property of the State and the People. Currently, the work of overcoming the consequences of the storm is still being urgently deployed by the Provincial Military Command in heavily affected areas.

In the context of increasingly extreme and unpredictable natural disasters, the timely and drastic participation of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Military continues to affirm its core and pioneering role in natural disaster prevention and control, for the peaceful life of the people.
