Physical symptoms

A person should seek medical attention if anxiety triggers physical symptoms such as stomach pain, excessive sweating, headache, rapid heartbeat, and shortness of breath. These symptoms often accompany a significant event.

For example, anxiety might cause stomach aches whenever social activities occur. It could also lead to sweating whenever leaving the house, or an unusually rapid heartbeat when talking to strangers on the phone. These are all signs that anxiety is no longer normal and needs to be checked.

Cognitive symptoms

Those affected should also be checked if anxiety is accompanied by insomnia, difficulty concentrating, or memory problems. In particular, with insomnia, anxiety can linger in the mind, making it hard to fall asleep at the beginning of the night. If they wake up in the middle of the night, the anxiety continues to overwhelm their minds, making it impossible to fall back asleep.

Overthinking

Anxiety, coupled with overthinking, sometimes causes sufferers to lose sight of what's happening around them. At this point, the anxiety has begun to disrupt their lives.

Panic attack

People often confuse panic attacks with hypoglycemia or heart attacks. Excessive anxiety can trigger panic attacks with symptoms such as chest pain, rapid heartbeat, sweating, trembling, shortness of breath, and abdominal pain. If it is a genuine heart attack, the person should be taken to the emergency room immediately.
