According to initial information, at approximately 3:30 PM on May 24th, Phong Thanh commune received a report from the People's Committee of Hamlet 2A about a storm that caused damage to the roofs of many houses. Immediately afterwards, the commune's Military Command dispatched officers and soldiers to the scene to coordinate with local authorities in assessing the situation and assisting residents in overcoming the consequences. Initial statistics indicate that 15 houses in Phong Thanh commune were affected by the tornado.
Of these, 4 houses had their roofs completely blown off, 1 house had its front roof blown off, and 10 houses suffered minor damage. The total estimated damage is approximately 150 million VND.
The leaders of Phong Thanh commune went directly to the scene to direct the forces in helping people overcome the consequences.
Militia forces from the Phong Thanh Commune Military Command assisted residents in clearing the scene and reinforcing roofs.
According to local residents, the tornado lasted only a short time but the strong winds, accompanied by heavy rain, blew away many corrugated iron roofs and damaged some household items. Many households had to move their belongings and put up temporary shelters to protect them from further damage caused by the rain.

The People's Committee of Phong Thanh commune is continuing to assess the damage and provide support to severely affected households to help them stabilize their lives as soon as possible.

Also on the afternoon of May 24th, a storm ripped off the roofs of 20 houses in Gia Rai ward. This included one household in Hamlet 19A, 12 in Hamlet 20, and 7 in Hamlet 22. Many roads were affected. Initial estimates of the damage are approximately 800 million VND; there were no casualties.
Immediately after receiving the information, local authorities dispatched military and police forces to the scene to coordinate with local residents in assisting affected households to overcome the consequences. In addition, one power pole collapsed and 12 other poles tilted.
Reports indicate that many houses have completely collapsed.
In recent days, the weather in Ca Mau has been erratic, with heavy rain and thunderstorms occurring in many areas in the late afternoon and evening. Authorities advise people to proactively reinforce their houses, trim trees, and monitor weather forecasts to minimize damage during the rainy and stormy season.
