The commitments of the new provincial and municipal secretaries and chairmen on their first day in office not only show honor but also affirm a high sense of responsibility before an important historical milestone.

In Ho Chi Minh City - the largest economic center of the country, Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen called the merger to form a new city "a long-term development vision, a growth driver not only for the Southeast region but for the whole country".

Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen: The measure of reform is people's satisfaction

He affirmed that the only measure of reform is people's satisfaction, the quality of life of each city resident.

Not stopping at development, the new Ho Chi Minh City will be a living proof of the "smooth operation of a two-level government", a truly serving government.

“The entire political system of Ho Chi Minh City is ready to enter a new development phase, starting this week,” Mr. Nen affirmed.

In the North, the new Hai Phong city is the crystallization of the heroic Port City and the cultured Eastern region, envisioned by City Party Secretary Le Tien Chau as a "strategic growth pole", not just a combination of boundaries but a blend of bravery and intelligence, tradition and aspiration.

Hai Phong City Party Secretary Le Tien Chau

Speaking at the ceremony to announce the Resolution and Decision of the Central and local governments on merging provincial-level administrative units on June 30, the Secretary of the Hai Phong City Party Committee shared: “We are deeply aware that the road ahead will have many difficulties and challenges, but it is also an opportunity to realize the aspiration of a new Hai Phong, developing on par with typical Asian cities.”

Hai Phong aims to become a modern international seaport city, leading the country in industrialization and modernization; an international economic, cultural, educational, training, scientific and technological center.

Meanwhile, in the Southwest region, the new Secretary of Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee, Le Quoc Phong, expressed a great aspiration: "Immediately implement the work of a new province with the highest sense of responsibility and determination."

He affirmed that the new Dong Thap must quickly become a bright spot in administrative reform, modern infrastructure and double-digit growth, "becoming a locality with high competitiveness, efficiency and effectiveness".

Think big, do big

With the mindset of “think big, do big”, Chairman of Bac Ninh Provincial People’s Committee Vuong Quoc Tuan also emphasized the action message in the first meeting of the Provincial People’s Committee yesterday after the merger: Do not accept division; willing to foster the common interests of the province, ignoring thoughts of personal interests.

Chairman of Bac Ninh Provincial People's Committee Vuong Quoc Tuan: Boldly set the goal of leading growth nationwide

The new Bac Ninh, with more space and greater expectations, will pursue the goal of “leading economic growth nationwide” in the first year after the merger.

"We must think big to do big, for the common good, for the sustainable development of the province," Mr. Tuan emphasized.

He also affirmed that this year, Bac Ninh set a double-digit growth target. The province even boldly set a growth target of being the top in the country.

In the Central Highlands, Mr. Ho Quoc Dung, Secretary of the Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee, did not hesitate to admit the challenges “when there are no leading enterprises, no leading projects”. But he also believes that, with the advantage of “a miniature Vietnam” - from the highlands to the sea, from the plains to the port infrastructure, Gia Lai will make a breakthrough if it knows how to take advantage of “heavenly time - favorable terrain - harmony of people”.

“We must eliminate the old idea of investing exclusively in Binh Dinh or Gia Lai. We must do things that benefit common development,” he affirmed.

Those statements are a consensus on a new spirit, the spirit of "not letting opportunities pass by, not letting the apparatus stagnate".

From North to South, from highlands to plains, new local leaders understand that what people need is not smooth words, but concrete, effective actions, as General Secretary To Lam said: "A serving State will no longer be a slogan but will become concrete, substantive actions."
