Authorities recreated the scene of the incident on Nha Chung Street.

Small conflict, big consequences.

On March 21, 2026, the Investigation Police Department of Lam Dong Province issued a decision to initiate a criminal case, indict and prohibit L.D.T (born in 2008) and TKV (born in 2008) from leaving their place of residence; and simultaneously indicted and temporarily detained Trinh Dinh Ke (born in 2005) to facilitate the investigation into the act of "Disrupting public order" related to the fight that occurred on Nha Chung Street, Xuan Huong Ward, Da Lat.

Earlier, at approximately 3:30 PM on March 12, 2026, the Xuan Huong Ward Police in Da Lat received a report about a fight between students in the Nha Chung street area. Immediately afterward, the police quickly deployed professional measures to verify and clarify the individuals involved.

Initial investigations indicate the incident stemmed from a personal conflict between two 8th-grade students. Subsequently, the individuals involved gathered others, armed with weapons, and went to the gate of Quang Trung High School on Nha Chung Street to engage in a fight, causing a disruption of public order and negatively impacting the local community.

Earlier, in early March 2026, the People's Court of Region 10, Lam Dong province, tried 15 defendants for disturbing public order. Notably, among those involved in the brawl at Duc Thanh Bridge (Phan Thiet ward, Lam Dong province), there were quite a few individuals under 16 years old. At this age, they should be in school, playing with friends, but instead, they face legal consequences for a moment of recklessness.

According to the indictment, due to a personal conflict on social media, on April 3, 2023, two groups of young men prepared dangerous weapons such as homemade swords, pig-slaughtering knives, tridents, and iron pipes, and arranged to meet to settle their dispute.

Although the incident did not cause serious consequences, the thuggish behavior, showing disregard for the law, and occurring in a residential area, caused panic among residents and disrupted social order and safety.

It is worth noting that this is not an isolated incident. Recently, there has been an increasing trend in many localities of young people gathering and resolving conflicts through violence, even using dangerous weapons.

The incident at Duc Thanh Bridge once again serves as a warning bell for young people.

A concerning reality is that many of the children involved in similar incidents are very young, with limited legal awareness, and easily incited and manipulated. While some individuals in these cases may not be of legal age to be held criminally responsible, the negative consequences for their character and deviant behavior remain. If not corrected promptly, these initial missteps can easily lead to more serious legal violations as they mature.

It requires the joint efforts of both family and society.

The causes of this situation stem from many factors. First and foremost is the lax management and lack of close attention from some families. Many parents, due to the need to earn a living or simply due to complacency, have failed to understand the relationships and psychological states of their children.

The fact that teenagers are gathering late at night, associating with bad friends, and even possessing weapons without their families knowing is very alarming. In addition, the social environment, especially the impact of social media and violent or deviant content, also contributes to the formation of negative thoughts and behaviors in young people.

When minor conflicts are not resolved through dialogue but are instead escalated into impulsive confrontations, the consequences are not only physical injuries but also a ruined future.

Currently, summer vacation is fast approaching. This is a time when children have a lot of free time and less direct supervision from school. Without proper guidance and supervision, this can easily become a "dangerous gap," creating conditions for inappropriate gatherings, reckless behavior, and even violations of the law.

Police are working with the young people involved in the incident that occurred on Nha Chung Street, Xuan Huong Ward, Da Lat.

Discussing this situation, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh, Chief Judge of the People's Court of Region 13, said: "From practical experience in trials, we have observed that the situation of young people violating the law is becoming increasingly complex. In many cases, these young people commit violations impulsively, without self-control, influenced by the social environment, the internet, and lax supervision from their families."

In the long term, prevention should be prioritized, focusing on early education about legal awareness and life skills, and strengthening management and support measures to help young people develop healthily and reduce the risk of violations.

"

It is noteworthy that many of the defendants were very young but had a certain level of awareness of their actions, yet still intentionally committed them. This shows that there are still gaps in legal education, lifestyle guidance, and coordination between families, schools, and society that need to be addressed.

Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh, Chief Judge of the People's Court of Region 13

Given this reality, the role of the family needs to be prioritized. Parents are not only caregivers but also the first line of defense protecting their children from temptations and wrongdoings. Paying attention to, listening to, understanding their feelings, managing their daily routines, and managing their relationships are crucial factors.

At the same time, it is necessary to educate children about respecting the law and resolving conflicts in a civilized manner, preventing minor conflicts from escalating into violence.

Authorities and local governments also need to strengthen the dissemination of legal information and organize healthy and beneficial summer activities to attract young people to participate. The Youth Union and social organizations need to play a guiding role, creating positive playgrounds to help children develop comprehensively both physically and mentally.

The cases at Duc Thanh Bridge and Nha Chung Street serve as a costly lesson. When impulsive and uncontrolled behavior among young people is not prevented in time, the price to pay is not only prison sentences, but also the future of these young people themselves.

Early and proactive prevention, through the joint efforts of families, schools, and society, is the fundamental solution to eliminate such regrettable "teen trials."
