The decision for elderly people to go to nursing homes is considered a civilized choice.
Taking parents to "school"
Previously, Mr. Tú's life in Hanoi was always hectic with work, while his mother, Mrs. T. Hằng (94 years old), quietly spent her days in their empty house.
"My mother is a very loving person, but all her children are busy. Every evening when I come home and see her wandering around alone, I can't help but feel guilty," Tú shared.
In her later years, Mrs. Hang began to worry more after a fall while home alone. She feared illness that no one would know about, and the loneliness that would engulf her, surrounded only by the silent four walls of her home.
Anh Tú researched many nursing homes and carefully considered his options before deciding to take his mother to Phương Đông Asahi – a new nursing home model in the city center – for a visit.
"Initially, my mother shook her head, thinking nursing homes were boring and lonely places. But when she learned about the day-care model, she gradually became more open-minded," he said. Especially after touring the modern facilities and interacting with the friendly staff, she signed up for a 3-month day-care package.
From then on, a new way of life began. Previously, every morning she would see her children off to work and her grandchildren off to school before returning to her lonely house. Now, her son happily waits for the car to pick her up for her "after-school classes." In the evening, she returns to the embrace of her children and grandchildren, and dinner becomes more lively with laughter as everyone has new stories to tell.
Ms. Hang's transformation is also a common story for many modern families, as prejudices about nursing homes are gradually being replaced by a new perspective. Society has become more open to professional and civilized solutions for elderly care, helping grandparents live happily and healthily, while their children and grandchildren can work with peace of mind.
In this context, General Secretary To Lam 's suggestion to establish a professional nursing home system, linked to the "pick-up in the morning, drop-off in the evening" model, has become a significant milestone, ushering in a new era for the elderly.
Nowadays, elderly people entering nursing homes is seen as a civilized choice, just like students going to school, parents going to work, and grandparents going to their own "school" to enjoy each day.

A "school" of their own, where they can enjoy themselves every day.
Daycare classes – going far beyond the traditional elderly care model.
Going beyond the traditional elderly care model, Phuong Dong Asahi is now pioneering the creation of a modern retirement space with a semi-residential model, in line with the spirit of a place where the elderly can live happily, healthily, connect with each other, and find joy, instead of silently facing the loneliness of old age.
From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, Ms. Hang and many other elderly residents experience a scientifically balanced care schedule that includes medical care , nutrition, physical rehabilitation, and mental well-being.
Each day, she and her community begin with a regular health check-up from a team of professionals, helping to detect and address any problems early. This is followed by a series of enriching activities within a complete resort ecosystem, including spa and massage services, swimming, and access to modern fitness facilities.
Nutrition here is also given careful attention. Breakfast, lunch, and snacks are all designed by nutrition experts with diverse and nutritious menus, ensuring they are suitable for each individual's physical condition and health issues. As a result, elderly people can enjoy delicious and palatable meals, helping to maintain a positive spirit and stable physical condition.
Unlike many nursing homes, Phuong Dong Asahi is also a pioneer in owning a high-end Onsen hot spring bath and Jjim Jil Bang sauna area.
After more than a month of sending his mother to "classes," Mr. Tú happily shared that, initially, he was worried she wouldn't be used to it. But since joining the nursing home's daycare program, his mother seems to have become younger. Every evening, she tells him about meeting her friends, what she ate that day, and participating in clubs and many new activities. This makes him feel happy and much more at ease.

Asahi Oriental is likened to a "hospital within a hospital" model, allowing senior citizens to enjoy life to the fullest.
The "Institute within an Institute" model allows you to enjoy life.
Another "resident" is Mrs. Hoa (72 years old), whose visit to Phuong Dong Asahi was a pre-planned arrangement with her group of friends. "Now that our children are grown, we decided to come here to enjoy our old age a little. Singing, dancing, playing games… and making new friends. It's fun, healthy, and allows us to live life to the fullest," she said.
In particular, what gives residents complete peace of mind while enjoying life here is the " Institute within an Institute " model. Impressed by the regular health check-ups and monitoring by the care staff, Mr. and Mrs. Manh (79 years old) jokingly shared that many people say children caring for their fathers is not as good as wives caring for their husbands, but at the nursing home, both husband and wife receive equally thorough care, so they can comfortably enjoy life.
Founded on a simple yet profound aspiration to provide a peaceful haven for the elderly, Phuong Dong Asahi offers a comprehensive healthcare system while simultaneously fostering a vibrant "continuation of youth," ensuring that each day is a valuable experience.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Viet, Chairman of the Phuong Dong Asahi Nursing Home Healthcare Complex, emphasized that this is also the guiding principle throughout the formation and development journey, as Phuong Dong Asahi together illuminates clubs for poetry, music, painting, fine arts, culture, cuisine, etc., so that these spiritual values become a legacy, a flame passed on to future generations, contributing to building a happy and humane society.
