In his preferred 49kg weight class, Le Van Cong demonstrated the skill and class of one of the world's top weightlifters by successfully lifting 163kg.

This achievement earned him the silver medal overall, finishing behind weightlifter A Hadi (Indonesia) with a lift of 179kg, while the bronze medal went to Yerbolat Karibay (Kazakhstan) with a performance of 157kg.
This year's tournament is not only about competing for medals, but it is also part of a points-earning system that determines eligibility for major competitions such as the 2026 Asian Para Games and the 2028 Paralympic Games.

Le Van Cong successfully defended his gold medal at the ASEAN Para Games.
The Vietnamese team participating in the competition consisted of five athletes, with Le Van Cong continuing to be the biggest hope in the men's 49kg category. Winning the silver medal not only contributed to the team's overall achievement but also provided an important morale boost for long-term goals ahead.
Not content with this achievement, Le Van Cong has long been regarded as an icon of Vietnamese disabled sports.
The weightlifter from Ha Tinh province is the first Vietnamese disabled athlete to win medals in three consecutive Paralympic Games: a gold medal at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, a silver medal at the Tokyo 2021 Paralympic Games, and a bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
The silver medal in Bangkok once again demonstrates the perseverance and dedication of the weightlifter born in 1984.
In the context of increasingly fierce competition in regional disabled weightlifting, Le Van Cong's achievement is not only a source of pride but also a great inspiration for the younger generation of Vietnamese athletes on their journey to conquer new heights.
