The number of visitors to Binh Thuan has increased sharply.

In the first six months of the year, tourism activities in the province were quite vibrant with a strong increase in visitor numbers. The province welcomed 4.46 million visitors, an 86% increase compared to the same period in 2022 (reaching 66% of the annual plan). Of these, international tourists reached 133,000, a five-fold increase compared to the same period last year. Revenue from tourism activities reached VND 11,348 billion, a 2.5-fold increase compared to the same period in 2022.

Besides its natural and climatic advantages, the significant increase in tourist numbers is due to Binh Thuan's ongoing efforts to improve its transportation infrastructure; its focus on enhancing service quality; and its leveraging the opportunities presented by the newly inaugurated Phan Thiet - Dau Giay and Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet expressways, which shorten travel time for tourists. Furthermore, the successful organization of the opening ceremony and activities of the 2023 National Tourism Year "Binh Thuan - Green Convergence" has created a great opportunity for Binh Thuan tourism to become a highlight in the development of tourism in Central Vietnam and the entire country.

2023 was identified as the year for a strong recovery of the tourism industry nationwide. In this context, Binh Thuan province intensified its tourism promotion and development efforts, linking them with the implementation of digital technology and smart tourism systems to facilitate tourism promotion, ensuring convenience and attractiveness to attract a large number of visitors from other provinces, especially during holidays and Tet (Lunar New Year).

Inspection and monitoring of compliance with regulations on tourist safety, security, pricing, and environmental hygiene in tourist areas have been largely ensured. New tourist routes have been formed and developed strongly, attracting a large number of visitors, such as the Phu Quy Island tourist route and the Provincial Party Committee's base historical site during the resistance war against the US.

To achieve the target of attracting 6.7 million tourists, including 220,000 international visitors, and generating a total tourism revenue of 15,900 billion VND in 2023, the tourism industry will continue to intensify its tourism promotion activities through various forms and channels to develop new tourist markets.

Specifically, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism is implementing comprehensive solutions, conducting a thorough review of facilities, infrastructure, and business services serving tourism to build the image of a "Safe - Friendly - Attractive - High-Quality" destination, and maintaining the Bình Thuận tourism brand. Along with this, the department is directing tourism businesses in the province to continue investing in the development of new and attractive tourism types; investing in improving the quality of services for tourists; and advising the Provincial People's Committee to successfully organize the remaining activities of the 2023 National Tourism Year "Bình Thuận - Green Convergence".

Local People's Committees should also intensify propaganda on the tourism environment; strengthen management and ensure security, order, environmental hygiene, rescue, and emergency response at tourist attractions, beaches, and coastal areas; take measures to address littering by residents and tourists, and provide sufficient trash cans and public hygiene messages at tourist attractions in their areas.
