Manager Erik Ten Hag hopes that temporary signing Jonny Evans can impart his experience and help the young players at Man Utd.
"I think helping each other is a good idea. This deal benefits everyone involved," Ten Hag said on July 19 when asked about the signing of Jonny Evans.
According to Transfermarkt , Evans' contract with Man Utd is only valid from July 18th to July 31st. The 35-year-old center-back will train and participate in some pre-season matches. After that, Evans can move to another club.
According to the Dutch coach, Evan can train physically and help Man Utd improve their level. "We know he is an experienced player, but also a very good person and a great personality. I also think he has great authority and can help the young players," Ten Hag added.

This summer, Evans' contract with Leicester City has just expired. The 2015-2016 Premier League champions will have to play in the Championship from the 2023-2024 season, due to finishing third from the bottom last season.
Evans is a product of the Manchester United academy. In nine years with the first team, the Northern Irish centre-back made 198 appearances, contributing seven goals and seven assists. In 2015, Evans left Man Utd to join West Brom. He played for Leicester City from 2018 to 2023.
Evans won three Premier League titles, two League Cups, four FA Community Shields, one Champions League, and one FIFA Club World Cup with Man Utd. With Leicester City, he won the FA Cup in 2020-2021.
In Manchester United's 1-0 friendly win against Lyon on July 19th, Evans came on as a substitute. Throughout July, the "Red Devils" will also play friendlies against Arsenal, Wrexham, Real Madrid, and Dortmund. They will begin their 2023-2024 Premier League season with a match against Wolves on August 14th.
