Manchester United have not officially announced Michael Carrick as their long-term head coach, despite both sides having reached an agreement on the contract.

MU needs to have further discussions with Carrick regarding the coaching staff.

According to British media, Carrick has agreed to sign a two-year contract with Manchester United, with an option to extend for a further year. Manchester United's management wanted to finalize Carrick's appointment after the win against Nottingham Forest on May 18th. However, negotiations regarding the coaching staff have delayed the process.

Carrick wants to continue working with the team he has built since taking charge of the team in January. Notably among them is Steve Holland, a former England assistant under Gareth Southgate.

Holland is considered one of the most experienced members of MU's new coaching staff. He participated in two World Cups and two European Championships with England, and also worked under a number of renowned coaches such as Carlo Ancelotti, Jose Mourinho, and Antonio Conte at Chelsea.

Besides Holland, Carrick also wants to retain close associates such as Jonathan Woodgate, Jonny Evans, and Darren Fletcher in the new team.

After a period of acceleration that helped MU secure third place in the Premier League, Carrick earned significant trust from the club's leadership. The question now is how much power the 44-year-old manager will be given to build his own dynasty at Old Trafford.
