On October 4th and 5th, over 500 children in Tra Cu commune, Vinh Long province, had a special Mid-Autumn Festival experience with young volunteers from the Firefly Night Volunteer Club - students from the Faculty of Journalism and Communication, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City.
Igniting passion and igniting hope for students in remote areas.
This year, the Mid-Autumn Festival of Love program organized by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has the theme "The Festival of Colorful Lanterns".
The program distributed over 500 experiential gifts including: candies, school supplies, notebooks, pens, clothes, along with activities such as free stalls, games and a "Drum-making" workshop, bringing a Mid-Autumn Festival day that was both fun and full of experiences; awarding 20 scholarships to encourage learning and one scholarship to students with particularly difficult circumstances who still strive to excel in their studies at Thanh Son Primary School.
In addition, a highlight of this year's program was the awarding of six health insurance cards to students. “When the children received their 12-month health insurance cards, we were truly delighted. Many of them come from disadvantaged backgrounds, with parents working far away, and sometimes teachers have to advance the costs. The support from these young people helps protect them better and brings great joy to both teachers and students,” shared Mr. Thach Chamron, Head of the Youth Union at Thanh Son Primary School.

Students gain more experience from real-world situations.
By participating in the program, students not only hone their professional skills in the fields of content, media, public relations, and logistics, but also develop soft skills such as communication, teamwork, event organization, and practical management.
Going directly to the local community, meeting and sharing with children also provides a rich life experience and fosters a sense of community.

The club's leader, Hung Loi, believes that with the message "Turn off the lights, turn on the love," each gift, each light, is a bridge connecting love to underprivileged children. "As a young person, being able to directly bring joy to children, I clearly feel the value of sharing and community spirit," Loi expressed.
This year's Mid-Autumn Festival of Love program involved 40 students and was supported by 5 businesses and philanthropists, ensuring that all activities were complete and vibrant.
