Guehi became the second highest-paid player at Man City. |
Guehi moved to Etihad for a mere £20 million from Crystal Palace, and immediately became the second-highest-paid player at the Etihad. The English center-back signed a five-and-a-half-year contract, with a salary of up to £300,000 per week.
Guehi's salary is second only to Erling Haaland (£525,000/week) in Pep Guardiola's squad. Man City's decision to offer Guehi such a high salary stems from the fact that they only paid a relatively low transfer fee, as the 25-year-old defender's contract with Crystal Palace is nearing its end.
According to statistics, Guehi's salary is on par with Bernardo Silva and slightly higher than Omar Marmoush (£295,000/week). Other key players such as John Stones, Ruben Dias, and goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma all receive around £250,000 per week. Meanwhile, stars like Phil Foden, Rodri, and Josko Gvardiol also rank behind Guehi in terms of earnings at Man City.
Man City beat Liverpool to sign Guehi, after his move to Anfield fell through at the last minute in last summer's transfer window. For the 2000-born center-back, this is a well-deserved reward for his tireless efforts and leadership role at Selhurst Park.
Speaking at his unveiling, Guehi proudly said: "I am truly happy to become a Manchester City player. This is the culmination of all the efforts I have put in throughout my career. I want to continue to develop, learn, and give my all for the best club in England."
From Palace captain to a potential key player at Etihad, Guehi's life has clearly changed, both in terms of status and value, while playing for Man City.
