Transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Mount still wants to stay with Manchester United until the end of his contract (June 2028). The midfielder is focusing on improving his fitness and is ready to contribute to the "Red Devils" in the next season.

Furthermore, Mount is also keen to continue working with manager Ruben Amorim, in order to help the team overcome what has been their worst Premier League season in history.

Previously, Aston Villa considered signing Mount in this summer's transfer window. Manager Unai Emery highly valued the English midfielder's talent, but Mount refused to leave Old Trafford.

The 26-year-old has failed to make a significant impact since joining MU, making only 47 appearances in all competitions due to numerous injury problems. However, the £55 million signing became an important part of the squad towards the end of last season, notably scoring a brace in the Europa League semi-final second leg against Athletic Club.

Like Erik ten Hag, manager Amorim also appreciates Mount's playing style. He frequently praises the English midfielder's work ethic and dedication. Last season, Mount made 26 appearances for the club and scored only 3 goals.

If Manchester United retain him for next season, Mount will have to work harder as the Red Devils have already signed Matheus Cunha and may soon sign Bryan Mbeumo. This duo could occupy the two forward positions behind striker Rasmus Hojlund. This is also a familiar role for Mount in Amorim's system during the latter half of last season.
