Transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano said Mount still wants to stay with MU until the end of his contract (June 2028). This midfielder is focusing on improving his fitness and is ready to contribute to the "Red Devils" next season.
In addition, Mount also really wants to continue working with coach Ruben Amorim, to help the team overcome the worst Premier League season in history.
Previously, Aston Villa considered recruiting Mount in this summer transfer window. Coach Unai Emery highly appreciated the talent of the English midfielder, but Mount refused to leave Old Trafford.
The 26-year-old has struggled to make a significant impact since joining United, making just 47 appearances in all competitions due to injury problems. However, the £55m signing became a key part of the squad towards the end of last season, scoring twice in the Europa League semi-final second leg against Athletic Club.
Like Erik ten Hag, Amorim also likes Mount's style of play. He often praises the English midfielder's work ethic and dedication. Last season, Mount made 26 appearances for the club and scored just three goals.
If he is retained by MU next season, Mount will have to work harder as the "Red Devils" have recruited Matheus Cunha and soon Bryan Mbeumo. This duo can occupy the two striker positions behind center forward Rasmus Hojlund. This is also Mount's familiar role in Amorim's system in the second half of last season.
