Morrison's face was almost unrecognizable. |
At 55, the former England center-back recently shared an update on his health in a video on his personal page. After 10 weeks of treatment, Morrison frankly admitted: "There's no good news."
According to expert assessments, his condition is serious. Although there were hopes of a recovery within a few weeks, the reality is that the process could take up to a year, or even longer.
Ramsay Hunt syndrome directly affects the facial nerves, causing Morrison's face to become deformed and significantly impairing his ability to control his facial muscles. In the video, he attempts to lift his facial muscles to demonstrate a small positive sign: slight movement beginning to return. "That's a good sign. The brain is gradually recovering the nerves," he shared.
However, the journey was not easy. Morrison described feeling exhausted after simple activities, along with symptoms of dizziness, loss of balance, and brain fog that left him feeling constantly intoxicated. "It was truly a challenge," he admitted, acknowledging the ever-present fear of the unknown.
Nevertheless, the former Man City captain is determined to fight to the end. He emphasized that he will do everything to return to his best version, no matter the cost.
Morrison is a former English central defender, famous for his role as Manchester City captain in the late 1990s. He helped the team gain promotion and played for several clubs such as Blackburn Rovers and Huddersfield Town before retiring and transitioning to coaching.
