Visiting the summer-autumn rice fields of Phan Dang Luu hamlet, Hoa Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district on the morning of August 9, many drones were seen flying over the fields to spray pesticides to prevent rice pests.

Mr. Nguyen Trong Huong - Director of Yen Thanh District Agricultural Service Center said that on this field of more than 30 hectares, the locality cooperated with enterprises to produce rice seeds, creating a large field, so it is convenient for caring for and preventing rice pests and diseases.
Currently, the rice has begun to flower, but there are quite a lot of brown borer worms, so the District Agricultural Service Center contacted the unit that sprayed pesticides using drones to help farmers prevent pests in the most timely manner.

The pesticides used to spray on rice this time are not chemical pesticides, but biological pesticides, provided by the Center for Application of Science and Technology Advances (Department of Science and Technology) for testing.
According to Mr. Nguyen Trong Huong, with more than 30 hectares of rice fields, drones can spray in just one session, not only quickly, but also at the right time, in bulk... so it is highly effective. However, to deploy pesticide spraying by drones, it requires rice fields to be linked in production with enterprises; but fields that are not linked are difficult to implement, due to the lack of consensus among farmers. Therefore, every year in the spring rice crop in Yen Thanh, about 500 hectares are sprayed with pesticides by drones, while in the summer-autumn rice crop, only about 200 hectares are sprayed./.
