On the evening of November 10, Messi posted on his personal page a photo of him quietly walking on the field with a short caption full of emotion: "Last night, I returned to the place I always remember with all my heart. The place where I was the happiest person in the world , where you made me feel that a thousand times."

This was Messi’s first appearance at Camp Nou since the stadium was renovated. This coincidence led many to believe that Messi’s visit was not just a nostalgic moment, but also had a deeper meaning – as a signal for the day he would be officially honored at Barca’s sacred ground.

President Joan Laporta once affirmed that he wanted to hold a special ceremony to honor Messi: "It would be great if we inaugurated the new stadium with a tribute to Messi, in front of a full Camp Nou audience. Of course, that depends on his wishes, but I would love to do it when I was president."

The relationship between Messi and Laporta has been tense since the summer of 2021, when Barcelona were forced to part ways with him due to the financial crisis. At that time, Messi cut short his vacation to return to sign a new contract, but eventually had to leave in tears and join PSG.

Despite leaving in sadness, Messi affirmed that his feelings for Barca are still intact: "I hope one day I can come back, not just to say goodbye, because I never had the chance to do that as a player."
