Microsoft makes it easier to upgrade from Windows 10 to 11

To attract gamers, Microsoft has released a list of prominent gaming features that Windows 11 brings. At the same time, the company also released an article in early 2024 to clarify "misconceptions" related to upgrading to Windows 11. Microsoft also posted a notice about the end of support for Windows 10 on its website to steer users away from the old version.

Microsoft has now updated a support article titled “Can I upgrade to Windows 11?” with small but helpful changes. The article provides information about the system requirements needed to upgrade to Windows 11, making it easier for users to determine if their PC is eligible. While the content isn’t new, the layout has been improved to make it easier to follow, and a shortcut to the Windows Update settings page has been added.

Microsoft's efforts to improve Windows 11 market share

For those who are not tech-savvy, this update page can be useful when looking for information about upgrading their system. Basically, existing Windows 10 devices can upgrade to Windows 11 if they are running a supported version of Windows 10 and meet the minimum hardware specifications.

To check for upgrade eligibility, users can download and run the PC Health Check app or go to Settings > Update & Security > Check for updates to see if their device is eligible.

If a PC isn't compatible with Windows 11, Microsoft recommends users consider buying a new device or switching to another operating system like Linux, although this may not be a viable option for those unfamiliar with the technology.

Microsoft is trying to push users to switch to Windows 11 before Windows 10 officially "retires". However, it seems that the company still needs to refine its strategy to avoid unfortunate incidents with Windows 11 as recently reported.
