The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that in the evening and night of August 17, the North and North Central regions will have scattered showers and thunderstorms with a common amount of 10-30mm, locally over 50mm.
Thunderstorms appeared after a day of hot weather, helping the temperature drop quickly, making the North cooler. However, people should be wary of the risk of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. Heavy rain in a short period of time can cause flooding in urban areas.
On July 18, Hanoi and the provinces and cities of the Northern Delta will have less rain and more sunshine. Temperatures will rise to 32-34 degrees Celsius, and the heat will continue in the afternoon and evening. In the Northwest, thunderstorms will still appear in many places.
Meanwhile, the heat wave continues in the area from Nghe An to Ninh Thuan . The highest temperature is 35-37 degrees Celsius, with some places experiencing intense heat above 37 degrees Celsius.
