Cold and very cold weather can affect livestock and poultry; and the growth and development of crops. Heavy rains can cause flooding in low-lying areas; flash floods in small rivers and streams; and landslides on slopes. Heavy rains in a short period of time can cause flooding in urban and industrial areas. Strong winds, gusts, and large waves at sea affect the operation of ships and other activities.
