Evidence of linkage

Việt NamViệt Nam02/05/2024

In the current stage of development, the issue of collaboration for tourism development has become a vital requirement.

Evidence of linkage

The fact that Thanh Hoa attracted over 1.5 million visitors during the recent 5-day holiday, a 27.3% increase compared to the same holiday period in 2023, can be seen as vivid evidence of the interconnectedness in tourism development.

The linkages here are not only between the tourism industries of different provinces or between tourism businesses, but also between tourist destinations within the province.

According to statistics from the Thanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, during the April 30th and May 1st holiday, in addition to coastal and resort areas that received a large number of visitors, many historical sites and scenic spots in the province also saw a surge in the number of tourists. Specifically, Ho Dynasty Citadel received 11,700 visitors; Lam Kinh received 9,200; and Ben En National Park received 3,400... Without tour linkages and destination connections, it is unlikely that these historical sites and scenic spots would have received such large numbers of visitors.

Recognizing that linkages are key to unlocking tourism development, immediately after tourism activities returned to the "new normal," Thanh Hoa's tourism industry proactively opened its doors and embarked on a systematic and long-term development strategy. Thanh Hoa province has welcomed numerous famtrip delegations and media outlets from across the country to survey and connect tourism development, continuously promoting the image of Thanh Hoa's "Four Seasons' Beauty" to tourists. A key event marking this vision and aspiration was the Conference on Linking and Cooperating in Tourism Development, Connecting Tours and Routes between Thanh Hoa Province and other provinces and cities, organized by the Provincial People's Committee in mid-June 2023. Subsequently, in August 2023, Thanh Hoa province successfully organized the Thanh Hoa Tourism Linkage Conference with Ho Chi Minh City and the provinces of the Southeast region, leading to the signing of a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in tourism development between the Thanh Hoa Provincial Tourism Association and the Tourism Associations of the provinces and cities of the Southeast region.

In the first quarter of 2024, Thanh Hoa province continued to organize numerous survey trips and coordinated many tourism networking conferences in various provinces and cities nationwide. Most recently, following the success of the tourism promotion conference themed "One Journey - Many Experiences" between Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, and Ha Tinh provinces, the Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee organized a tourism promotion and networking conference between Thanh Hoa and the expanded Red River Delta provinces and cities. This was a large-scale conference targeting a potential tourism market.

Gone are the days of tourism development where everyone acted independently and without coordination; tourism businesses relied primarily on natural resources. In its tourism development plan, Thanh Hoa province has clearly stated that tourism resources play a fundamental role, while tourism practices are the decisive factor. Tourism must constantly innovate, replacing the mindset of relying on resources and passively waiting for opportunities to fall into its lap. This philosophy is proving very true, as evidenced by concrete and encouraging results.
