Integrated crop management model IPM/IPHM brings high economic efficiency

On September 17, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection in coordination with Thai Binh Seed Group Joint Stock Company organized an evaluation of the results of the integrated crop management model IPM/IPHM on high-quality purebred rice variety TBR 97, Summer-Autumn crop 2024 in Phung Nguyen commune, Lam Thao district.

Leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and delegates evaluated the productivity and lodging resistance of the high-quality pure rice variety TBT 97 of Thai Binh Seed Group in Phung Nguyen commune, Lam Thao district.

The model was deployed on an area of 5 hectares with 122 participating farming households. The participants were supported with 100% of seeds, organic fertilizers and technical guidance on applying intensive farming techniques according to the IPM/IPHM method. According to the assessment, the TBR 97 rice intensive farming model applying this method has a hard stem, strong plants, good panicle drainage, few pests and diseases, firm grains and delicious, fragrant rice quality, with a yield of nearly 63 quintals/ha. Along with that, intensive farming according to this method helps people have less contact with pesticides, minimizing environmental pollution.

Although affected by storm No. 3, the TBR 97 rice area was less damaged than some other rice varieties.

Actual evaluation of the model shows that TBR 97 rice variety is suitable for the Summer-Autumn crop conditions in the Northern region, has good lodging resistance (tested in Thai Binh through storm No. 3 Yagi ); the number of effective tillers/clump is high; the rate of firm panicles is over 90%; the rice/rice ratio is approximately 70%. The average total revenue is over 65 million VND/ha; giving a profit of over 18 million VND/ha compared to the control field...

After visiting the model, the leaders of the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection requested the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, People's Committees of districts, cities and towns to direct specialized agencies to continue testing the intensive cultivation model of high-quality pure rice variety TBR 97, applying intensive cultivation techniques of integrated crop management IPM/IPHM in the following crops, in order to reduce costs of labor, seeds, pesticides, and improve efficiency in agricultural production.
