However, during the period 2018-2021, the area of Cao Phong oranges declined sharply due to diseased trees, unscientific care practices, and the end of their productive cycle. Therefore, the citrus fruit tree replanting project for the period 2021-2025, with a vision to 2030, was approved by the former Hoa Binh province. In implementing the project, 32 households participated in the citrus fruit tree replanting model, covering an area of 14 hectares.

Participating households receive 100% support in the form of disease-free seedlings, fertilizers, and pesticides; they also receive training in soil treatment techniques, planting, care, and pest control. To date, the project has helped households change their farming practices, raise awareness of food safety, and establish concentrated production groups using the same variety and production process, facilitating synchronized management and product traceability labeling. Simultaneously, it has strengthened the Cao Phong orange brand amidst the rapid increase in cultivation area for this crop in many other localities.
Following the merger, the total area of citrus trees in Phu Tho reached 15,300 hectares, including 11,700 hectares of pomelo and 3,600 hectares of orange. Based on the results of the Cao Phong orange replanting, the province aims to sustainably develop key citrus fruit crops by 2030 to contribute to job creation, increased income, increased export value, restructuring the agricultural sector, stabilizing people's lives, developing socio -economic conditions, and ensuring national defense and security in rural areas.
