Expand your sales channels on digital platforms.

Thai Nguyen is the first locality in the country to have a shared agricultural product store on Shopee – the largest e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia. This achievement demonstrates the determination of the provincial leadership and the efforts of departments, agencies, and localities in actively supporting businesses and cooperatives to realize the goal of selling agricultural products on social media and e-commerce platforms. This also affirms an important step forward, opening up great opportunities for Thai Nguyen's agricultural products to reach millions of customers nationwide and internationally.

Bringing local specialties to the market.

Thai Nguyen currently has 240 OCOP-ranked products ranging from 3 to 5 stars, exceeding the target set in the province's OCOP product development plan for the 2019-2025 period by 200%. Of these, 155 products achieved 3 stars, 83 products achieved 4 stars, and 2 products achieved 5 stars at the national level.

Among the province's OCOP products, there are 154 tea products (the province's main crop); 41 processed food products (vermicelli, dried meat, pressed oil, spring rolls, etc.); 44 products including spices, beverages, handicrafts, clothing, fresh food, raw and semi-processed products; and 1 tourism service product.

According to assessments, each OCOP-ranked product sees an increase in economic value of approximately 20% or more. However, the majority of these products are still sold on a small scale, lacking linkages and not yet widely known to customers.

With the goal of strongly developing OCOP products, the Provincial People's Committee has recently directed relevant provincial departments and agencies to strengthen the application of information technology in advertising and trade promotion, bringing products to be sold on social media platforms and e-commerce platforms.

The biggest success in 2024 was that the Department of Industry and Trade advised the Provincial People's Committee to sign a memorandum of cooperation with TikTok Vietnam and Shopee Vietnam Co., Ltd.

Mr. Nguyen Ba Chinh, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, affirmed: Under the close and decisive direction of the Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Industry and Trade has proactively connected, negotiated, and agreed on strategic cooperation in supporting and promoting the widespread application of e-commerce in businesses, cooperatives, and communities in the province. After many days of effort, Ban Viet Production and Trade Service Cooperative (Ban Viet Cooperative, located in Bao Ly commune, Phu Binh district) has launched the Ban Viet - Thai Nguyen store on the Shopee e-commerce platform. This is a new, unprecedented model, affirming an important step forward and opening up great opportunities for Thai Nguyen agricultural products to reach further...

Ms. Bui Thi Hai Yen, Director of Ban Viet Cooperative, said: "To make Thai Nguyen's shared agricultural product store on the Shopee e-commerce platform known to people both domestically and internationally, we organize live sales streams on Facebook at 12 PM and 8 PM daily, then redirect customers to Shopee. Each session lasts about 1.5 hours, during which we introduce 4-5 agricultural products from Thai Nguyen so that buyers can learn about them, follow along, and add them to their shopping carts. From April 1st, the store officially opened, and we offered many great deals and attractive gifts to customers..."

Now, consumers can easily find and purchase high-quality agricultural products characteristic of Thai Nguyen with just a few simple taps on their smartphones or computers. The booth brings together hundreds of exquisite and unique agricultural products from cooperatives in the province, many of which have received OCOP certification ranging from 3 to 5 stars.

Implementing the e-commerce street model.

The Department of Industry and Trade is assigning the Trade Promotion Center to intensify surveys of production and business establishments along Luong Ngoc Quyen street (in Quang Trung and Hoang Van Thu wards, Thai Nguyen city) to develop a model for an e-commerce street.

The Trade Promotion Center, in coordination with Hoang Van Thu and Quang Trung wards, surveyed over 150 production and business establishments along Luong Ngoc Quyen street. Of these, 149 establishments have registered to participate in the e-commerce street program, opening stores and operating businesses on e-commerce platforms such as Shopee and TikTok.

The Department of Industry and Trade has also assigned the Trade Promotion Center as the focal point to coordinate, guide, and address difficulties and obstacles, and provide advice to businesses in setting up and operating stores on e-commerce platforms Shopee and TikTok.

Along with conducting surveys to develop e-commerce street models, the Department of Industry and Trade has sent a document to the People's Committees of districts and cities requesting them to promote and encourage businesses, cooperatives, and production and trading establishments in their areas to participate in e-commerce platforms.

Currently, localities are implementing measures decisively, mobilizing the active and proactive participation of the entire political system, considering this a key political task of the locality to promote revenue growth from e-commerce and the digital economy in the province.

This April, the Department of Industry and Trade, in collaboration with TikTok Vietnam, is launching the livestream program "Thai Nguyen OCOP Market Fair 2025". This is another concrete step towards enhancing the value of Thai Nguyen's agricultural products by connecting product consumption on e-commerce platforms.

To promote the development of trade and services, this year, the Department of Industry and Trade has developed a plan to organize the Thai Nguyen 2025 Industry and Trade - OCOP Exhibition; the Thai Nguyen 2025 Agricultural Products, OCOP, and Traditional Craft Village Festival linked with tourism; the "Promoting the Colors of Agricultural Products in the 4.0 Era - Thai Nguyen 2025" program; and programs to promote and connect the consumption of specialty products (such as Vo Nhai custard apples, Phu Binh hill chickens), along with programs to stimulate domestic consumption...

This provides a basis for businesses and cooperatives to participate in order to improve the effectiveness of trade promotion, cooperation, supply and demand connection, and expand product distribution channels.
