"Over the years, we have implemented a school dental program to provide oral health care for primary school students. However, it has not yet covered the entire community in terms of oral disease prevention, nor has it provided widespread guidance on oral care. As a result, it is estimated that about 90% of the population has oral health problems."

"In implementing Resolution 72, the Vietnamese dental and maxillofacial sector will combine dental examinations with general health check-ups for the public at least once a year; and simultaneously provide knowledge on oral health care and prevention of oral diseases to the community," said Associate Professor Dr. Tran Cao Binh, Director of the Central Dental and Maxillofacial Hospital in Hanoi, on the sidelines of the 47th Asia-Pacific Dental Conference and the International Dental and Maxillofacial Science Conference and Exhibition held in Hanoi from May 12-14.

Mr. Binh also affirmed that the Vietnamese dental and maxillofacial sector carries out two tasks simultaneously: preventive care and treatment. In particular, treatment has adopted advanced techniques in the region.

In the field of oral disease prevention, greater emphasis will be placed on raising awareness and educating target groups, especially children, preschoolers, the elderly, people with disabilities, and pregnant women.

According to the Ministry of Health , in phase 1 of the project "Improving the capacity for examination, treatment, and prevention of oral diseases in the community in the period 2021 - 2030" (Project 5628), 93.5% of all schools participated in oral health care activities; 360 professional and technical procedures in dentistry were developed and standardized.

Hospitals have proposed that the Ministry of Health and relevant ministries and agencies issue policies to ensure more sustainable oral care for children, including considering mechanisms to guarantee payment and financial support from health insurance for preventive oral disease services...

The first Asia-Pacific Dental Conference was held in Vietnam, themed "Applying Scientific Advances to Dental Practice," attracting over 5,000 delegates, scientists, and leading dentists from Vietnam and abroad to exchange and update on the latest trends in the field of dentistry.

This event also features an international dental exhibition with nearly 400 booths from multinational corporations and businesses, showcasing the most modern dental equipment, technologies, and materials available today.
