According to the socio -economic report for February 2024 from the General Statistics Office, nearly 8,600 new businesses were established nationwide in February this year, a decrease of 36.5% compared to the previous month and a decrease of 2.8% compared to the same period last year.
In addition, more than 5,300 businesses resumed operations; 5,146 businesses registered for temporary suspension of business; 2,153 businesses ceased operations pending dissolution procedures; and 1,506 businesses completed dissolution procedures.
In the first two months of 2024, the whole country saw 41,100 newly registered and reactivated businesses, an increase of 8.5% compared to the same period last year. On average, more than 20,500 businesses were newly established or resumed operations each month.

The number of businesses withdrawing from the market was 63,000, an increase of 22.5% compared to the same period last year. On average, nearly 31,500 businesses withdrew from the market each month.
Regarding the import and export situation, in February 2024, the total value of goods imports and exports was estimated at 48.54 billion USD, a decrease of 25.8% compared to the previous month and a decrease of 1.8% compared to the same period last year.
Overall, in the first two months of 2024, the total value of goods exports and imports is estimated at 113.96 billion USD, an increase of 18.6% compared to the same period last year, of which exports increased by 19.2%; and imports increased by 18%.
The merchandise trade balance showed a surplus of $4.72 billion (compared to a surplus of $3.5 billion in the same period last year).
In the first two months of 2024, the US was Vietnam's largest export market with an estimated turnover of $17.4 billion. China was Vietnam's largest import market with an estimated turnover of $20.9 billion.
