After many days of heavy rain, at around 1:00 p.m. this afternoon (November 2), at the Moong lake area of Thach Khe iron mine, Thach Khe commune, Ha Tinh province, a dike broke.

This iron mine lake has a capacity of about 20 million cubic meters of water. When the water overflows and combines with heavy rain, it will threaten the residential areas downstream.
To fix the problem, in the afternoon of the same day, the Thach Khe commune government mobilized about 100 people along with militia and commune police, using soil, sandbags and mechanical vehicles to reinforce the broken dike section.

The repair work has now been completed. However, with heavy rain forecast to continue pouring down on Ha Tinh in the coming days, authorities are on duty at the scene, monitoring the water level at the lake to have timely rescue solutions when an incident occurs, ensuring the safety of people in the nearby low-lying areas.
