Don Dac Kindergarten (Don Dac Commune, Ba Che District) currently has 10 school locations, including 9 separate locations and 1 main location. The whole school has 450 children (including: 119 nursery schools, 331 preschool children), with a total of 22 class groups. Accordingly, in the 2024-2025 school year, the rate of 5-year-old children attending class will reach 100%; nursery school children attending class will reach 52.4% (an increase of 10% compared to the previous school year); the rate of 3 and 4-year-old preschool children attending class will reach 98% (an increase of 1.3% compared to the previous school year). Children with normal weight will reach 99.1% (an increase of 1.9% compared to the previous school year); children with normal height will reach 95.1% (an increase of 0.7% compared to the previous school year).
Teacher Pham Thi Hue, Principal of Don Dac Kindergarten, commented: To improve the quality of child care andeducation , the school has maintained the calculation of food portions for children on software, ensuring balanced nutrition; strictly implementing the processing process to ensure food hygiene and safety. In particular, the school has organized well the work of nurturing and taking care of children's health, 100% of children have regular health check-ups and health monitoring on growth charts.
Don Dac Kindergarten also directs teachers to build a good classroom environment, increase the collection of open materials for children's activities, innovate in educational planning, design purposeful activities to ensure requirements on knowledge, skills, education, change teaching methods, to promote children's positivity according to the child-centered educational perspective.
Ba Che district currently has 22 educational institutions. At the preschool level, there are 7 schools, 90 classes, and 1,833 children. In general, this school year, preschools in the district continue to effectively implement the Child-Centered Preschool Education Program; do a good job of nurturing and caring for children; and build a Green - Clean - Beautiful landscape environment.
Ms. Hoang Thi Oanh, Head of the Department of Education and Training of Ba Che district, said: The Department has directed schools to focus on maintaining the standards of universal preschool education for 5-year-old children, organizing boarding meals that meet the requirements of reasonable nutrition and food safety. In addition, schools focus on implementing the "Reasonable meal model, ensuring nutrition combined with increasing physical activities for children". From this model, children are healthy, agile, proactive in activities, enjoy participating in experiential activities, enjoy playing with friends, and enjoy going to school more than before.
In the mountainous areas of the province, preschool education has had many remarkable changes. For example, in Binh Lieu district, there are currently 8 public preschools and 128 groups and classes. This school year, the rate of mobilizing nursery children to study reached 62.73% (exceeding the planned target by 2.53%); mobilizing preschool children reached 99.95% (exceeding the planned target by 0.05%); mobilizing 5-year-old children to study reached 99.85% of children of the age group; mobilizing 6-year-old children to study in grade 1 reached 100% of the plan.
The work of improving the quality of child care and education is being carried out with attention. 100% of children attending school in the district are given regular health check-ups and monitored with growth charts.
Since July 2023, the Provincial People's Committee has approved the Project on propaganda and mobilization to improve nutrition and physical strength for children in highland, ethnic minority and mountainous areas of Quang Ninh province, period 2022-2025. The Project is implemented in 64 communes in ethnic minority, mountainous, border and island areas.
Since the Project was launched, all levels, sectors and localities have been more active and synchronous in taking care of preschool children. For the Education and Training sector, it directs preschool education facilities to pay attention to implementing good nutritional care for children, improving the quality of meals, ensuring balance, reasonableness, adequacy, ensuring food safety and hygiene, and increasing physical activities for children at school.
It can be seen that although preschool education in mountainous areas still faces many difficulties, with the efforts of all levels and sectors, especially schools, preschool children have been and are being cared for, educated, nurtured and developed comprehensively, thereby gradually reducing the situation of underweight and stunted growth.
