As a "bright spot" in improving the status of ethnic minority women, Tan Son district creates conditions for women to overcome difficult circumstances, rise in labor, become self-reliant economically , and build equal, progressive, and happy families.
In My Thuan commune, Tan Son district, the Women's Union of the district has established a "Beekeeping for Honey Production" livelihood group with 13 members. The Union has coordinated with agencies and organizations to help the beekeeping group expand its scale, organize training courses, and guide members on the biological characteristics of honey bees, the significance of beekeeping, beekeeping practices, beekeeping techniques, and modern beekeeping methods. As a result, the Muong Vac honey product of the My Thuan commune livelihood group achieved OCOP 3-star certification in November 2024, contributing to economic stability for women in the commune.

Ms. Hoang Thi Thom, group leader of the "Beekeeping for Honey Production" livelihood group in My Thuan commune, shared: "To date, each member earns from 10 million VND/month, and the lives of the women in the group have become increasingly prosperous. Some households have built spacious houses and purchased equipment and facilities to improve their lives, creating a foundation for happier families."
The "Beekeeping for Honey Production" livelihood group is one of three livelihood groups, including: Tea processing in Bong 1 area, Long Coc commune; and the cooperative group for brewing fermented rice wine in U area, Thu Cuc commune. The program is part of Project 8 of the Women's Union of the district. To effectively implement the program, the Union has actively deployed and applied Industry 4.0 technology in production and market connection, focusing on activities such as: Brand building and traceability; introducing and supporting electronic payment connections; providing technical support and advice to groups; and bringing agricultural products to e-commerce platforms,... aiming to help women members improve their capacity in brand building, enhance product value, familiarize themselves with digital transformation in managing and operating collective economic models, and promote and introduce products.

Implementing Project 8 under the National Target Program for socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas in the 2021-2025 period, the Women's Union of the district not only focuses on supporting livelihoods but also promotes emulation movements such as "Building friendly, compassionate, united, integrated, and developing women of the ancestral land", "Women cultivating good values of Vietnamese families", "Building Vietnamese women of the new era" along with two campaigns "Building families with 5 no's and 3 clean's" and "Cultivating moral qualities of self-confidence, self-respect, loyalty, and diligence"...
In addition, the Association directed the launch of two "Native Vegetable Farming" cooperative groups in Xuan Dai and Dong Son, providing 3 million VND per group; coordinated with the Provincial Fund for Supporting Poor Women to disburse support for two livelihood models, "Raising Multi-Toed Chickens," with 30 million VND per model, and supported a "Raising Stream Ducks" model for 10 households in My Thuan and Thu Cuc communes with 40 million VND.
Ms. Dinh Thi Thu Hien, Chairwoman of the Tan Son District Women's Union, stated: “Enhancing the status, role, and empowerment of women in the family and in life has always been one of the key tasks of the District Women's Union. In the context of the current economic difficulties, the Union has implemented many activities and programs to build capacity for economic development, improve agricultural production skills for members, and promote gender equality for ethnic minority women.”
One of the highlights of the Women's Union's activities in the district was organizing 24 dialogues between Party committee leaders and 1,260 members and people in 16 out of 17 communes of the district to listen to the thoughts and aspirations of women. Along with this, campaigns such as: preventing domestic violence, preventing child abuse, and safety self-defense skills for children... attracted nearly 2,000 women and children to participate.
Members of the "Leaders of Change" Club from Kiet Son Secondary School, Kiet Son Commune, Tan Son District, participated in activities during the club's launch ceremony.
To date, the Association has launched 68 community communication teams in all 17 communes; and 12 "Leaders of Change" clubs. These are the core, pioneering forces in disseminating information and mobilizing people in ethnic minority and mountainous areas to change their mindsets and practices, contributing to the elimination of gender stereotypes, prejudices, and harmful cultural customs that have been and continue to be barriers to the development of women and children.
The Women's Union continues to maintain and develop the loan fund for supporting poor women in communes and cooperative groups, with a total outstanding loan balance of over 8 billion VND, helping women members access financial loans to develop their economy and escape poverty sustainably. These efforts demonstrate the determination of the District Women's Union, helping ethnic minority women confidently assert their value in the community.
