Over the years, Tuyen Quang province has proactively transformed its crop structure, focusing on developing key products and specialties in which the province has strengths. A prime example is tea; the province currently has 8,298 hectares of tea plantations, including 2,270 hectares of specialty tea, with a fresh tea leaf yield of over 74,000 tons per year.
Meanwhile, the province's orange orchard area is estimated at 7,412 hectares, with a production of over 95,000 tons of fruit. 1,423.6 hectares of orange trees are cultivated according to VietGAP standards; 33.4 hectares according to organic standards. The pomelo orchard area is over 5,358 hectares, of which 4,626 hectares are bearing fruit. Currently, Xuan Van pomelo and Ham Yen mandarin oranges have been granted geographical indication certificates by the Vietnam Intellectual Property Office.

To date, Tuyen Quang has over 3,200 hectares of crops produced according to VietGAP and organic standards and regulations, with 9 planting area codes and 3 packaging facility codes granted; products are standardized to meet market requirements; and the brand and competitiveness of agricultural products continue to improve. The average production value per hectare of cultivated land reaches 108.2 million VND/year.
Furthermore, with 448,239.9 hectares of forest land and an existing forest area of 426,205 hectares, Tuyen Quang's forestry economy has made remarkable progress in recent years. A planted forest raw material area of over 190,000 hectares has been established, with a timber reserve of over 2 million m3/year and an annual harvesting output of over 900,000 m3/year, ranking among the top in the country in terms of harvesting volume; over 11,000 hectares are newly planted annually; and the "plant 2, harvest 1" formula is implemented, so the forest cover rate is consistently maintained above 65%, with many localities in the province achieving over 70%.

To date, Tuyen Quang has 191 OCOP products across 94 communes, wards, and towns belonging to 134 entities. Of these, 149 products have achieved 3-star rating, 42 products have achieved 4-star rating, and 1 product has been submitted to the National OCOP Council for evaluation and 5-star rating (Hong Thai Shan Tuyet Tea, type 1 bud 1 leaf).
Products recognized and ranked under the OCOP program will be prioritized by the province for selection and promotion in trade promotion activities, and supported in being listed on e-commerce platforms such as Sendo, Voso, PostMart, Cuccu, Shopee, etc. The selling price of products after participating in the program increases by 10-30%, creating motivation for businesses and affiliated members to develop products, increase value, and boost income for the people.

Tuyen Quang has established 28 safe product supply chains, with 107 products protected by the Vietnam Intellectual Property Office, over 200 products bearing traceability labels, and 4 products with geographical indications.
Mr. Nguyen Van Viet, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Tuyen Quang province, said: Currently, the agricultural sector is greatly affected by natural disasters and climate change. However, the agricultural sector has always received close attention and guidance from the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee, supervision from the Provincial People's Council, close coordination from all levels and sectors, and the efforts of businesses, cooperatives, and farmers to overcome difficulties, so the growth targets of the sector have all been met and exceeded the set plan.
Specifically, in 2021, the growth rate reached over 5.3%; in 2022, it reached nearly 4.4%, and in the first nine months of 2023, it reached over 4.3%. Notable achievements include a significant increase in the area of crops grown according to quality standards, rising from 1,600 hectares to 3,200 hectares; and the area of FSC-certified forests increasing to 48,318 hectares, ranking among the top in the country.

Mr. Viet added: In the coming time, the agricultural sector will focus on implementing several key objectives: Reorganizing production, especially consolidating, improving, and enhancing the efficiency of cooperatives; striving for key crops and livestock to be produced through various organizational forms such as cooperative groups, cooperatives, and linkages with businesses; applying advanced technology to production, preservation, and processing of agricultural products; effectively implementing the central and provincial policies supporting commercial agricultural production, especially policies supporting agricultural product standards, investment promotion, and support for high-quality plant varieties.
It is known that Tuyen Quang will soon apply disaster monitoring technologies such as: rainfall measurement systems, forest fire warning systems, forest resource management… and all agricultural products will be labeled with traceability tags, OCOP products will be listed on electronic trading platforms, and technology will be applied to livestock and crop farming, especially in concentrated and specialized agricultural areas, thereby enabling early detection, prevention, and treatment of pests and diseases in crops, with the ultimate goal of improving the yield and quality of agricultural products.
