On the morning of the 4th day of the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake 2025, residential group No. 11, Mau A town, Van Yen district, organized a longevity celebration for 31 elderly people aged 70 to 100 years old. For the local government, organizing longevity celebrations is one of the key political tasks at the beginning of the year, and it is carried out with solemn leadership and organization.
At the longevity celebration, the elderly shared their experiences of living long lives, attributing it to a healthy diet, regular exercise, and especially to maintaining a cheerful and optimistic attitude. Along with that, the impromptu songs and poems by members of the Elderly Association of residential area No. 11, expressing heartfelt wishes for health and well-being in the new year, contributed to the joy of the elderly celebrating their longevity.
At the age of 90, Mrs. Hoang Thi Tam, residing in residential area No. 11, Mau A town, Van Yen district, remains healthy and mentally alert. At her birthday celebration, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren attended in large numbers, offering best wishes and meaningful gifts to express their gratitude for her nurturing and upbringing. Mrs. Tam's face was radiant, and she wore a happy smile on this special day.
Grandma Tam happily expressed: "Our generation was born and raised in hardship and deprivation, but we still tried our best to raise our children to be good people. Having lived to this age, witnessing our children and grandchildren grow up to be mature and filial, and seeing our homeland change and improve, I am very happy. I will continue to educate my children and grandchildren to study and work diligently to contribute to building a more prosperous and beautiful homeland."
Mr. Le Van Thai, son of Mrs. Tam, shared: "I, like the children and grandchildren of the elderly, am very happy to have this birthday celebration organized for them. We thank the departments, agencies, and organizations for their care in organizing this birthday celebration for the elderly. Our extended family is very pleased that at the age of 90, my mother is still healthy. My father passed away early, and my mother worked hard to raise her children; therefore, this is an opportunity for the children and grandchildren to show filial piety and gratitude to their mother; at the same time, to educate the grandchildren to always respect and be grateful to their grandparents and parents."
In the Spring of the Year of the Snake 2025, not only residential area No. 11, Mau A town, Van Yen district, but also localities throughout the province organized birthday celebrations for elderly people aged 70 and above. Starting from the end of 2024, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, in coordination with the Provincial Elderly Association Representative Board, guided districts, towns, cities, and local associations throughout the province to compile lists and organize birthday celebrations and gift-giving for the elderly according to regulations. These birthday celebrations are usually organized by localities in the province, clans, and families from around the second day of the Lunar New Year until the end of the first full moon of the lunar month.
The celebration of longevity is organized in two forms: at home and jointly at the village or neighborhood cultural center with the participation of representatives from various departments, organizations, government agencies, and the children and grandchildren of the elderly person being celebrated.
At the celebration, government representatives commended the contributions of the elderly. They also received many well wishes and meaningful gifts. Organizing a collective birthday celebration is also an opportunity for the local government to acknowledge the contributions of the elderly; at the same time, it's a chance for children and grandchildren to express gratitude to their parents and grandparents, and to be more responsible in caring for them. The large turnout of organizations, government officials, and citizens also serves as encouragement for the elderly to always "live happily, healthily, and usefully."
Provincial leaders and leaders of districts, towns, and cities directly visited and presented congratulatory cards and gifts from the President to centenarians in the area. Gifts for centenarians included 5 meters of silk fabric and a cash gift worth 700,000 VND per person; gifts from the province for centenarians were 750,000 VND per person; and gifts from the province for centenarians aged 70, 75, 80, 85, 95, and over 100 years old ranged from 500,000 VND to 900,000 VND per person depending on age…

This activity demonstrates the concern of Party committees and authorities at all levels in caring for the elderly, encouraging them to continue striving to live happily and healthily, serving as exemplary role models for their descendants to follow."
