Man City actively negotiates Mateo Kovacic
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano said that the transfer of Mateo Kovacic will be completed after the Champions League final between Man City and Inter Milan.
In the past few days, the Etihad Stadium team has had active negotiations with the Croatian player.
Mateo Kovacic was given the green light by the Chelsea boss to leave Stamford Bridge with only one year remaining on his contract.
Kovacic himself aspires to work with coach Pep Guardiola, so he quickly agreed to the salary terms offered by Man City.
The reigning Premier League champions have to spend approximately £35 million to receive a nod from Chelsea in the above deal.
At the age of 29, Kovacic possesses a wealth of playing experience, which will increase the quality of depth for The Citizens midfield next season.
Guardiola's initial target was Jude Bellingham, but the young English talent decided to move to Real Madrid. Between Declan Rice and Mateo Kovacic, coach Pep chose Kovacic because of the cheaper cost.
In the latest interview on National, Kovacic said: “I just had a pretty bad time with Chelsea. After 5 years of serving The Blues, I will change. Anything can happen in football.
Man City is a top team and deserves to be in the Champions League final. Summer is still long, so let's wait and see what happens next."
