On the morning of May 6th, Neymar scored the only goal in Santos' 1-1 draw with Deportivo Recoleta in the Copa Sudamericana. After the match, the Brazilian superstar admitted to losing control during training. According to him, a challenge escalated into an unnecessary conflict, leading to an uncontrolled reaction towards an 18-year-old teammate.
"It was just a misunderstanding during training, but I overreacted. I apologized immediately afterward, both in the dressing room and in front of the whole team. If a public apology was needed, this is it," Neymar shared. He also emphasized his special relationship with Robinho Jr., considering the young player like a younger brother in the team.
Regarding Robinho Jr, the player confirmed that he was slapped during a tense moment, but insisted there were no further issues. He stated that he accepted the apology and admitted that his earlier request to terminate his contract was merely a rash reaction. The decision has now been reversed, and he has committed to remaining with Santos until 2031.
"I'm disappointed because Neymar has been my idol since I was a child, but he apologized and admitted his mistake. Everything is fine now," Robinho Jr. said.
