Young people jokingly call this the "Coastal Ice Cream Road".
This road isn't very long, but it's breathtakingly beautiful. On one side, the blue sea gently laps against the shore day and night, while on the other, a row of brightly colored ice cream shops catches the eye of anyone passing by. As dusk falls, the entire road seems to light up with the shimmering lights from the numerous ice cream, bubble tea, and smoothie shops lined up side by side. Each shop has its own unique style: some are decorated in a gentle Korean style, others have a rustic seaside feel, and some play lively music to attract young people to gather, laughing and chatting.
Among them is Ms. Loan's coconut ice cream, described as "both delicious and visually refreshing," made with fresh coconuts – a famous specialty of the Mui Ne coconut region. Its soft texture and sweet, combined with the perfect sunset view, make for an unforgettable experience. Besides coconut ice cream, there are many other tempting street food specialties such as rice paper rolls with shrimp paste, fruit dipped in shrimp paste, grilled seafood, and a variety of tea and beverage stalls catering to those who enjoy their time by the sea.
We chatted with Ms. Hoa, who was making coconut ice cream at Co Loan's shop along the coastal road of Ong Dia Rock Beach. With a friendly smile, she shared: "Usually, around 4-5 pm, there are many young people, both locals and tourists , sitting around, chatting, and admiring the sea. Young people like to sit close together on the sidewalk, while tourists stroll along the beach, take pictures, and enjoy a refreshing coconut ice cream – that's enough to make a day perfect." Mr. Nguyen Hoang Minh, a young tourist from Ho Chi Minh City, added: "I'm absolutely in love with this rocky beach area. The sunset and sunrise views are breathtaking. Add to that the dazzling ice cream shops behind it, and I don't want to leave. It's perfect for taking photos for social media, from the breakwater to the fishing baskets and the bougainvillea bushes along the roadside – every corner here is a beautiful picture…"
Young people in Phan Thiet jokingly call this the "Coastal Ice Cream Road," because no one visits without stopping for a refreshing ice cream, enjoying the view of the gentle waves lapping against the shore and feeling the cool breeze that washes away the fatigue of a long day. Ong Dia Rock Beach is famous for its unique beauty: the strangely shaped rock formations jutting out into the sea create an ideal backdrop for tourists' photos. Many visitors prefer to come here at sunset or sunrise – when the light bathes the landscape in golden hues, creating a magnificent and peaceful natural scene. This beach is not only a scenic spot but also a place that preserves the memories and beliefs of the local people. The original rock formation depicted the Earth God, and although it has been eroded by the waves over time, the sentiment is still preserved through the shrine and the rebuilt statue…
Unlike the bustling tourist areas, this stretch of road possesses a simple, tranquil beauty, a place where people can slow down, stroll with loved ones, or simply sit in a corner and gaze at the sea, finding peace of mind.
