In January 2021, Sac - Can Gio road was inaugurated after nearly 10 years of construction with a total investment of more than 1,500 billion VND.

According to Can Gio residents, before the year 2000, this area only had small, narrow roads and was divided by many rivers and canals, making it difficult for people to travel.

According to VTC News, when coming to Can Gio district, tourists only have one option: travel from the mainland to Binh Khanh ferry (Nha Be district) and then go along Rung Sac road. Binh Khanh ferry operates from 5am to 8pm, with each trip every 15 minutes.

Rung Sac Road is 36.5km long and 30m wide, with 6 lanes. The starting point of the road is adjacent to Binh Khanh Ferry Terminal, and the end point intersects with 30/4 Street (Long Hoa District, Can Gio) towards the East Sea.

On the Rung Sac - Can Gio route, 8 new bridges were built with a total investment cost of more than 500 billion VND.

When traveling to Can Gio island district, tourists can also choose to experience the bus. Currently, this area has 5 bus routes, with about 350 trips/day, an average output of 5,400 passengers/day.

Possessing an important strategic location, Can Gio district is currently planning many key projects such as Can Gio bridge (replacing Binh Khanh ferry) and especially Can Gio international transit port.

In July 2024, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport submitted to the City People's Committee a series of priority key transport projects and works to be implemented in the 2024 - 2030 period, including the project to upgrade and expand Rung Sac Road and build 8 bridges on the route with a total estimated investment of VND 3,850 billion. According to the representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport, the priority investment in roads and bridges on Rung Sac Road is to serve the Can Gio International Transit Port in the future and the plan to develop the Can Gio district transport network in the period from now to 2030.
