Opening of the 13th Party Central Committee Conference

On the afternoon of January 23, 2025, the 13th Central Committee Meeting of the Communist Party of Vietnam opened at the Party Central Headquarters in Hanoi. Attending the 13th Central Committee Meeting were General Secretary To Lam; President Luong Cuong; Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man; and Politburo member, Standing Secretary of the Central Committee, and Chairman of the Central Inspection Commission Tran Cam Tu.

Photo: Doan Tan/TTXVN Earlier, on the morning of January 20th, at the 2nd Conference of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF), 10th term, Mr. Do Van Chien - Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party, Chairman of the Central Committee of the VFF - provided further information on the implementation of Resolution 18 on streamlining the organizational structure of the political system. Mr. Do Van Chien stated that the Politburo and the Secretariat unanimously agreed to submit this matter to the Central Committee. The Central Committee will meet on January 23rd and 24th. It is expected that, following the 13th National Assembly Central Committee meeting, the National Assembly will hold its 9th extraordinary session. At this extraordinary session, the National Assembly will consider and decide on amendments and additions to many laws and resolutions to serve the reorganization of the apparatus according to Resolution 18. At the 41st session of the National Assembly Standing Committee in early January 2025, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man requested that agencies and organizations urgently prepare the necessary conditions for the session; working day and night, including Saturdays and Sundays, to finalize the contents of the session. “When the Politburo and the Central Committee issue resolutions, the National Assembly must institutionalize those resolutions to implement them in the reorganization of the apparatus,” National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man stated.
