New trends in the Cloud market
As artificial intelligence (AI) is deployed on a larger scale, the need for infrastructure to support data processing, stable operation, and scalability becomes more apparent, thereby driving the cloud computing market.
According to a report by the Vietnam Data and Cloud Computing Center, the domestic cloud market is maintaining an average growth rate of approximately 16% per year and is projected to reach a size of $1.5 billion by 2030.
Furthermore, statistics show that 93% of businesses in Vietnam have implemented at least one AI tool in activities such as communication and customer engagement, reflecting the increasing prevalence of AI in businesses.
As the demand for AI deployment increases, Cloud and AI Cloud platforms, with their flexible resource provision capabilities, are gaining attention from businesses as an alternative to investing in separate infrastructure.
In response to this trend, several Vietnamese technology companies have made strategic adjustments to expand their Cloud and AI Cloud capabilities. On December 16th, VNG announced the merger of VNG Cloud and GreenNode, consolidating all traditional Cloud and AI Cloud capabilities into a single unified platform.
Sharing his thoughts on this decision with the media, Kelly Wong, CEO of VNG, said that as the company transitions from AI testing to deployment, the challenge is no longer in the technology itself, but in the ability to quickly, stably, and effectively implement AI in operation.
Mr. Vu Thanh Tung, General Director of GreenNode, said: “We chose AI Cloud because this is an area where GreenNode can partner with and create clear value for businesses, by solving specific problems related to data, performance, and cost.”

Market potential is linked to regional trends.
On a regional scale, AI Cloud is attracting significant investment. Statistics show that in the first half of 2024, Southeast Asia attracted over $30 billion in investment in AI infrastructure. A BCG report also indicates that AI and GenAI are expected to contribute approximately $120 billion to the GDP of the ASEAN-6 group by 2027.
Beyond market size, sustainability is also a key consideration for AI Cloud infrastructure, as training and operating AI models consumes significant energy. Some businesses indicate they are prioritizing partnerships with data centers that meet ESG standards, aiming to balance performance, cost, and environmental impact.
According to experts, with the growing demand for AI applications in businesses, the AI Cloud market in Vietnam still has significant room for growth. The expansion of cloud and AI Cloud capabilities by domestic technology companies is seen as a factor contributing to the diversification of infrastructure options, better meeting the requirements for AI deployment in the coming period.
