The University of Southampton is a leading prestigious university in the UK with high achievements in multidisciplinary scientific and technological research and application with extensive experimental and application capabilities in many fields such as artificial intelligence (AI), microelectronics, aerospace, robotics and quantum technology. The school is a member of the Russell Group - an association of leading public universities in the UK, known as the "Ivy League" of the UK, with a strong academic foundation, especially in the fields of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).

For over 70 years, the University of Southampton has been a leading player in strategic technology research in the UK, focusing on technology application and transfer, creating practical products and solutions, contributing to the development of industry and society. The University of Southampton has always maintained strong cooperative relationships with leading technology corporations, international research organizations and industry partners. The university's international cooperation process has been promoted more strongly than ever during the tenure of Professor Andrew Atherton - Vice President for International Affairs of the University of Southampton. He is responsible for leading international cooperation strategies, building and maintaining global partnerships in research and education .

It is no coincidence that a highly ranked University in the UK with a long history of achievements has paid special attention to CT Group - Vietnam. With the Triple Helix cooperation model - a model that blends education, research and business, the University of Southampton is constantly looking for opportunities to develop research, exchange knowledge and cooperate with businesses. "Our experience at Southampton shows that when Universities join hands with high-tech businesses, we will create new discoveries, new knowledge to help improve the world , create opportunities and better living conditions for people and society" - Professor Andrew Atherton, Vice President of International Affairs of the University of Southampton, shared. With an ecosystem of 9 core technology industries, suitable and intersecting between business and academic research in new technology fields, it has created a potential strategic cooperation opportunity between CT Group and the University of Southampton.

According to Professor Andrew Atherton, Vietnam is one of the most exciting and dynamic countries in the world today. One of the reasons for this dynamism is that pioneering businesses and organizations like CT Group have led the country's economic development, taking the lead in creating sustainable economic growth, contributing to improving the lives of the Vietnamese people.

The University of Southampton's strengths range from microelectronics, AI, cybersecurity, UAVs, clean energy, quantum technology to cell-gene technology and robotics, creating a rare comprehensive research ecosystem. When combined with CT Group's core technology ecosystem deployment capacity from semiconductor technology, UAV unmanned aerial vehicle technology, LAE low-altitude space economy, quantum technology, genes and cells, new energy, etc., there is a very high degree of overlap, forming a strong complementary structure, when one side possesses international standard academic and experimental depth, the other side has the ability to apply technology to large-scale practical applications. This complementarity creates the foundation for jointly developing strategic core technologies, in line with Vietnam's innovation needs and global technology trends.

CT Group and the University of Southampton officially established a strategic partnership for the period 2025 - 2028, through the signing of a memorandum of understanding on December 9, 2025 in Ho Chi Minh City, marking an important step in the effort to connect Vietnamese technology enterprises with one of the UK's leading universities in science and technology.

Cooperation between the two sides will focus on technology transfer and the development of highly applicable scientific and technical platforms between the two countries. Instead of being limited to the framework of basic training, the two sides will expand cooperation in depth when building human resource programs according to international standards, focusing on integrated research programs, ranging from UAV, AI, semiconductors, quantum technology to biotechnology... creating positive social impacts through sustainable projects, solving environmental and climate problems and developing technological solutions that benefit society. In particular, the joint development and application of low-altitude economy technology - LAE (Low Altitude Economy) will become one of the new growth drivers for European economies as well as creating sustainable development for the Mekong Delta.
