The agreement aims to supply green energy from BIM Energy’s solar and wind power projects to a large-scale data center that EDC is developing in Ho Chi Minh City, with a total investment capital of about 500 million USD. The electricity demand for this complex is estimated at 50-100 MW, serving cloud computing platforms, AI infrastructure and high-tech applications that require very strict standards for clean energy.
DPPA - An important milestone for Vietnam's green digital infrastructure
Under the MoU, the two parties will work together to evaluate technical and commercial options for implementing the DPPA mechanism, which will allow EDC to purchase renewable electricity directly from BIM Energy through the national grid. This is one of the pioneering steps in Vietnam, marking the direct cooperation of a domestic energy enterprise with an international data center operator - a rapidly growing sector in Southeast Asia.
In the context of Ho Chi Minh City aiming to become a high-tech, semiconductor and digital economic center of the region, the formation of sustainable data centers is a core infrastructure condition.

Mr. Darren Webb, Co-founder and General Director of Evolution Data Centres, shared: “We are delighted to partner with BIM Energy to ensure EDC customers have access to large-scale renewable energy, a prerequisite for any global cloud or AI operator in Vietnam. Vietnam is entering a period of strong growth for the data center market, similar to Malaysia and Thailand in the past two years. By combining Vietnam’s natural clean energy advantages with a capable partner like BIM Energy, we believe this is a great opportunity to drive emissions reduction and build a sustainable data infrastructure in the region.”
Experts say Vietnam is emerging as a new data center destination in Southeast Asia. Its advantages in renewable energy, strategic location, and young workforce make it a bright spot on the region’s cloud & AI map.
The cooperation model between BIM Energy and EDC shows that Vietnam has taken substantial steps to meet electricity needs in the country's development journey, while ensuring low emissions - a prerequisite for global technology corporations.
If mechanisms like the DPPA are further promoted, Vietnam is expected to become not only a new data center market, but also a green digital infrastructure hub in the region in the next decade.
BIM Energy - green capacity meeting international data center standards
EDC's choice of BIM Energy reflects the operational capacity, scale and reliability of the renewable energy system that BIM has developed over many years.
BIM Energy currently operates more than 500 MW of solar and wind power, reaching an output of nearly 1 billion kWh/year, equivalent to the consumption of 300,000 households. The renewable energy complex in Ninh Thuan - combining the circular economy of salt, solar power and wind power - is one of the most efficient operating models in Vietnam.

In particular, the company aims to increase its operational and developed renewable energy capacity to at least 1,700 MW by 2027, affirming its long-term growth strategy and role as one of the leading clean energy suppliers for the energy transition in Vietnam.
These criteria align with the requirements of large-scale data centers: stable clean power, large scale, capable of deploying under the DPPA model, meeting ESG standards, and ensuring long-term efficiency.
Mr. Nguyen Hai Vinh, General Director of BIM Energy, emphasized: "Cooperation with Evolution Data Centres is an important step in the strategy of turning BIM's wind and solar power projects into clean energy sources for Vietnam's digital infrastructure. In the near future, BIM Energy plans to expand cooperation with power purchase partners under the DPPA mechanism, thereby diversifying its customer portfolio besides EVN, increasing sustainability and proactiveness in business operations."
BIM Group - persistent in long-term vision of sustainable development
During 31 years of development, BIM Group has consistently pursued a development philosophy based on sustainable values - long-term investment - respect for the environment and local communities. For BIM, sustainable development is not a single ESG requirement, but an ideal that was shaped very early: green investment, circular economic model, exploitation in harmony with nature and substantial contribution to national green energy capacity.
In the field of renewable energy, BIM Group sees renewable energy as the backbone of the future economy, and a "strategic piece" for Vietnam to participate more deeply in the global digital technology value chain. The cooperation with EDC is a testament to that direction.
